I'm sitting here in shock, as it's just hitting me that my all time favorite auteur is gone. Christopher Nolan was not like the others, second only to maybe Stanley Kubrick in his abilities at film authoring. Of all people that could've gone down in a plane, why him?
I know it sounds like an exaggeration but Christopher Nolan's cinema was part of the reason I fell in love with movie-making and decided to become a filmmaker. No one's kinography had more authentic emotion in it. The past few years have been full of grief for me, and I've lost a lot of my old personality. When I found myself numb upon hearing the news, I know for certain I just am not the same. The old me would've been heartbroken. But now it was just another day, his death felt instead like yet another sign things just aren't the same.
I hope despite all this the general public knows what a talent society lost on Monday.
