I come from a FPS background and hadn't played platformers before but this game gave me an unforgettable experience. It was truly heartwarming jet challenging and engading (played on the harder difficulty) at the same time. I'd say that 1/3 of the experience comes from the superb soundtrack. If you decide to buy the game make the extra investment in the DLC. IT'S WORTH EVERY PENNY!
