I was offered sex with a 21 year old girl today. In exchange, I was supposed to advertise some kind of bathroom cleaner. Of course I declined, because I am a person with high moral standards and strong willpower. Just as strong as Ajax, the super strong bathroom cleaner. Now available with scented lemon or vanilla.

Through the listener's point of view, the American expression of musical genius simply titled "Sweatshirt", created by the legendary artist Jacob Sartorius, may simply appear to be a formulaic love song. However, in order to truly grasp the depth of the lyrics the poet Sartorius has crafted together meticulously, we must delve into the singer's, nay, the prophet's mind.

The first line of the song, "Chillin' with a hair tie," refers to Sartorius' perceived 'love interest'. One can take the hair tie to mean that she is strangling her own expression and emotions, with her hair representing expression and the tie representing a chokehold.

'No makeup with some sweatpants on' refers to the love interest's outward appearance, but it also holds telltale signs of her inward strife. She has no time to bother with how she looks, not necessarily because she does not care but because she must devote all her attention to the inner torment she faces every moment. "You can think about me all night long," refers to how she longs for a savior, though she does not know Sartorius is the savior she needs yet. Or perhaps it has a darker meaning, as I will discuss below.

The next verse goes as follows, "But I think you need something to think of me / Something that will keep you warm / And show me that we can be more than just this / So baby, if you are not ready for my kiss."

While at face value this can be taken to mean a caring boy showing concern for his love, it is quite a bit deeper. Perhaps Sartorius himself is the abuser that is causing her pain, and he continually reminds her that she and him are meant for each other, while simultaneously feigning a respect for her boundaries in order to make her trust him more.

"Then you can wear my sweatshirt And you can tell your friends We'll be together 'til the end Girl, you can wear my sweatshirt 'Cause you're the only one I hold And I don't want you to be cold So, baby, wear my..."

The second verse, shown above, is very similar to the last. Jacob's "Sweatshirt" is a sentimental item he gives to her to ensure she continues to believe she needs him. "Tell your friends we'll be together til the end" is yet another attempt to subtly reaffirm that this girl stays with him no matter what.
