While I would have preferred a Non-VR experience just as much as any other HL fan, you just cannot ignore the brilliance of what Valve has done here. HL:Alyx sets a new benchmark for what VR is capable of and a class apart from anything available right now or in the near future. You lose track of the countless hours spent not really doing anything, but just taking in the gorgeous environments.

The ending brings a smile to your face.
Lets just say this is not just a throw away standalone prequel and it does progress the story in a very solid meaningful way. Excited to see what happens next in another 20 years :'(
Valve Time Yay!

I bought this game on release date at full price but never got around to actually finishing this masterpiece until the release of the definitive edition. The only regret I have is not experiencing this earlier. The Xen levels are redesigned from the ground up, they look beautiful and the sound track is probably some of the best in the industry. Absolute marvelous, cannot recommend this game enough for both HL fans and newcomers alike.

To think that this was a labour of love that started out as a mod by a bunch of dedicated fans blows my mind

Games can be extremely hard and still be very fun. The learning curve in figuring out the intricacies of a boss battle , perfecting the pattern and then finally smoking them can be extremely pleasurable. Cuphead on the other hand felt like a frustrating mess. It's not the difficulty itself that hinders the experience, but the randomness involved with it - Changes in sequences, Changes in boss actions, Changes in Timing, Situations which cannot be realistically dodged/avoided, and the worse offender King Dice and his stupid Start over . It would have been a lot more "fun" if the bosses had set patterns with no randomization while the difficulty is ramped up to compensate for the same.

Bottomline:
While I did grind through it, completed the game and hit a full 100%, I donot see myself ever returning to this game or it's sequel. Neither did I really enjoy the time that I did spend on it.

Too short, bunch of clichés and a very forced ending on what was an otherwise mediocre game. The mini games are fun though!

Too short , too un-interactive and too unrelatable coming from someone who absolutely loved To The moon. Disappointing even for the tiny price tag.

An Ending that puts Inception to shame. Made my head hurt literally ( real physical pain ).
Took an hour for it to sink in, But once you get it, it is marvelous.

Story - 9.5/10
Game play - 8 / 10
Elizabeth - 10/10

+ Drastically improved Lighting effects with clearly noticeable differences between this and the original.
+ Drastically improved particle effects. Fires and smoke leaking from pipes are improved considerably.
+ Drastically improved Fog in Water Hazard (and may be other levels).
+ Drastically improved sky boxes.
+ Bug fixes.
+ Commentary. Something i thoroughly enjoyed in the episodes and adds more replay value.

. Slightly improved Shadows (May be due to the lighting effects).
. Slightly improved water effects. Currents, the edges and under water effects seem more natural.

+++ An excuse to play arguably THE BEST FPS ever made again.

- NONE

This is coming from a person who hates point and click style games and RPGs.
Probably one of the best stories I ever saw in a game. Story telling is amazing. Sound trackis top notch.
Creative story telling, Good humor, Touching story.

Beutifull, Engaging, Emotional.

10/10 would cry again :'(
T_T

PS : Chapter 2 is coming out. Can't wait for that one ^_^
