I am currently bored out of my mind, so I've decided to write a review on Far Cry 5.

DISCLAIMER : At the time of writing, I have not completed the game, but I completely intend to do so. I love this game. Also, I will write this review as I go. Saying that, this is my FIRST REAL REVIEW OF A GAME, so do go easy on the criticism, but it is welcome.

Right, so, onto the review.

Let me start with the pros, because that's what comes to mind when I think about this game. From the beginning you get introduced as a rookie cop, with your cop friends, doing cop things in, Hope County, Montana, Usa. ♥♥♥♥ hits the fan, tutorials get done, tutorial quests get done, and after that you're on your own to explore a map that is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ awesome. The map is huge, and can be explored in great detail, its got caves, rivers, waterfalls, farmland, forests, etc. It separates it's quests, animal hunting grounds, and fishing spots nicely, so it motivates you to explore other parts of the map. You can travel the map via heli, car, atv, boat, plane. (some weaponized). But let me tell you, I love driving through hope county. More on that in a second.

Sound Design:

The sound design in this game is beautiful, its not so much realistic, as it is satisfying. That's about the only way I can put it. But I'm not trying to put the audios details down. Gunfire sounds great, empty cartridges clink on appropriate materials, (e.g, landing on wood, asphalt, water), shots echo as they should outdoors, and pretty much how you'd expect inside. When you're in a car, sounds from outside are muffled, until some maniac (more often me than anything else) decides to break the windows. Engines sound great, tires can be heard on whatever surface you are driving on. Muffled audio comes from the nearest exit when outside of a building, it's great. It all adds to the immersion.

Mobility/ Controls

That whole experience is smooth, the driving is beautiful, like the driving has meaning. It's not so arcade-y like say GTA, that's what makes driving around worth it. It feels real. The same goes for the other vehicles. They all drive beautifully. Controls only get weird with planes, but you can get by just fine. My struggle with the planes was turning left and right, cause it's a little slow and it's worth stretching all weird when you can just yaw left or right and correct yourself afterwards.

Graphics:

The graphics in this game are stunning, the lighting is on point. Shadows are done great indoors and outdoors. Sometimes it can be too bright, so you might wanna mess around with your gamma and contrast settings. Reflections accurately depict their surroundings and are accurate themselves. It's all there, watch a video on it, don't just take my word for it. I'm not some kinda graphics connoisseur.

Story/Characters:

You might have heard this before on other reviews, and I'm here to reinforce those claims. The characters in this game are acted ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ flawlessly. They are all unique, with interesting storylines. The people you meet are memorable. They're not just boring companions, or quest givers. The people who voiced these characters put real effort into them. Companions and others around you, will react to your mischief, enemies in the area, they'll remind you of quests you haven't done normally indirectly. An example of this would be, you pull up to a gas station and some guy randomly mentions to another guy, we gotta take down that [insert unliberated outpost here]. They remember you for doing things to help them and thank you for it. The story itself is written quite nicely, it's not spotty and characters that you meet in Hope County, help complete the picture of how the cult has been treating the citizens for years. Many people talk about how they weren't taking the cult seriously and then it all went to ♥♥♥♥. Some quests are about getting some revenge on them by retrieving things stolen by the cult. Which you can unlock for your own use. I talk a little more about the story in the next section.

Now what most people are here for,

Gameplay:

The gunplay in this game is fun, it's fast paced, cod-style. Ammo is bought from shops or found. But that's really never a worry, especially when u get perks. Speaking of, this is one of my favorite things in the game. Getting perk points. You can do some side quests to get these, (prepper stashes) they are generally some kinda puzzle you solve which reward you with money and perks. There, you can unlock things to help you get around, and just make the game more fun. Quests are great, they're not full of fetch quests, or boring 100% storyline. In fact, they are mostly just doing things like taking back stolen vehicles from the cult, things done over time, like liberating this many outposts, destroying this many vehicles in these areas. These quest's arent too common and they are side quests. The main story ones are good, they have you and the others fighting back against the cult through firefights and ♥♥♥♥, they have great writing. And the game is extra-sprinkled with comedy all throughout the story. Some quests are downright just silly, but they are all the fun silly, not stupid. And they all reward you with money and xp. That xp is for reaching points in which you interact with the leaders of the area you are earning that xp in. It's a great system, and it's not like you have to grind to get it done. It is easy to get xp, so your whole experience won't have to slow down for a bit. Unless you choose to, in which case you can go fishing, hunting, or exploring and take in the scenery. By the way, don't give any fish or food to Cheeseburger, since he's got the, you know, the diabeetus. All that fish and hides can instead go to the shops to buy you guns, attachments, fishing poles, cars, skins for everything mentioned beforehand. (not the poles) They have bows as well, what's a Far Cry without it. By the way, if you're looking for mention of glitches or bugs, I'm sorry to say, but I've barely encountered any. The few times I have, they are downright hilarious. The enemies are quite varied, as are your choices of weaponry and explosives. They have generally good a.i, and i've not really found anything that broke my immersion just yet. It's about what you'd expect, sometimes they move on you when you're weak, and other cool details that make u say wow they do that as they kill you. Im playing on hard btw. Enemies typically die from a few bullets to center mass, 1 to the dome.

You know, I never talked about the cons. Let's see what I can come up with..

uh

Well, I guess the only real con I can think of is that for one of the Seeds, their storyline is kinda ♥♥♥♥ when it comes to gameplay, you just run around and kill the same people with different dialogue from the Seed each time you run that quest. It's whatever to be honest. It's also way ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ better with friends, but i've played it on my own for now. I played a different save with some friends and it was pretty hilarious. The experience is not all that different so dont let me saying that discourage you from getting the game altogether. If anything it gives you a chance to stop and see how stunning the game looks.

Also, I'd probably wait for a sale, since it's already been out for a while and $60 seems like ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ cause of that. Cause ♥♥♥♥ ubi they got ♥♥♥♥ servers i wanna play rainbow with no lag

to be honest, if this game wasn't past it's time and people still cared and played it, it'd be cool. But, it's about time we let it go, get this game if you want to have fun with your friends who all really wanna play zombies together, or multi. Otherwise, don't get it, it's not gonna be fun on your own.
