I really can't praise this game enough! If you are even a casual fan of classic survival horror games like Resident Evil or Silent Hill, you NEED to buy this game!

There's a really loyal dedication to recreating the aesthetics and basic design of PSX-era survival horror. I really can't praise the visuals, sound, attention to detail, and character/creature designs here enough. Everything looks and sounds exactly how you'd want it to! However, that's not to say that this game is derivative! There's a lot of fresh and unique ideas at play here!

Whereas most most classic survival horror games render combat as something to be avoided and engaged on sparingly, here it is very deadly but there is a real incentive to kill the enemies you feel comfortable doing so. Not only are you able to depopulate areas, but every enemy you kill drops currency which is your primary way of obtaining med kits, ammo, weapons, and dresses.

The dress system is a very welcomed feature to the game. Dresses give small (but not insignificant) stat boosts such as 15% increased defense against damage, or 25% more effective med kits. The (nearly solo) dev has hit a happy medium here where you can emphasize your own play style, or simply play dress up without worrying about playing unoptimally.

Taking things a step-further, you're also welcomed to engage in buying modifications to your character (if that's your style), these can range from simply cosmetic to giving you a dodge ability or auto-aim function. For a game that is admittedly pretty linear, there's a LOT of depth here to allow players to play in very different ways, either entirely passive, fighting from a range, or getting in enemies faces.

Likewise, this game has a lot of good reason to continue replaying it. There are 3(ish) endings, all with their own requirements, as well as extra bonus content accessible only upon successive playthroughs, and in a Dark Souls-esque fashion, the game counts how many playthroughs you're on, and increases the health and damage output of enemies.

There's really SO much to say about this game, and as an absolute classic survival horror fanatic, I really can't recommend it enough. I think the efforts and achievements of the VERY small development team (literally like mostly one person) are astounding.

For survival horror fans both casual and hardcore, I think this is the PERFECT game to give a try!

I've tried very hard to like this game. I adore the first game and full admittance I got this game for free because I already owned Superhot, and I am so thankful I didn't spend money on this game. So much of the original vision is lost and totally ruined by design decisions in this game. Levels no longer are creative set pieces mimicking action film sequences. Instead levels are not a handful of different repeated endless arena levels with randomly spawning enemies and weapons. It is now nigh impossible to master a specific level or sequence due this randomness. There is now an ugly middle in which you anxiously cannot predict what will be in a set arena level, and likewise because the arenas are played, replayed, and replayed again; they are boring and become dull fast.

The longer levels and set number of hits that a player can take over a sequence of levels motivates the lamest most conservative and boring gameplay possible, an outright antithetical design consequence from the original's fast and loose gameplay.

SUPERHOT felt freeing and like the more you mastered the mechanics and systems of the game; the more liberally and expressive your play could be.

SUPERHOT: MIND CONTROL DELETE feels like I am constantly being monitored by a supervisor and can't risk or afford playing stylishly, experimentally, or expressively. This has become a game of shooting and taking cover, the very gameplay loop the first game was decidedly subverting.

I really question if the creators fully understood what it was that made the first game so great.

If you are looking for a game and enjoy laughing and fantastic writing and story elements Stanley Parable is the game for you. No other game has made me laugh and think and want to stay glued to my monitor more than Stanley Parable. The graphics are great, the voice acting makes the game, and every single inch of this game feels well crafted. If Portal 2 is a perfect game than Stanley Parable is a beyond perfect game. I have played plenty of games in the year of 2013 and no other game I've played is as deserving of the title of game of the year as this masterpiece.

Just a side note for anyone who is willing to try this game out, do not watch any playthroughs or read anything about what the game plays like. It is best experienced by yourself and with an open mind. Literally just play it. Don't look it up or ask your friends what happens just sit down and play it. If you're worried about making a wise investment and throwing actual money at this game then download the demo. Even if you do end up buying the game you should play the demo because it isnt found in the game is also a wonderful experience.
