Really great game! The controls, the way it plays, and general structure are good.

Be aware, however:

- This is not a long game. Most could clear the story and extra stages in about 3-4 hours.

- Some of the end of the game is dedicated to a mech and a gun mechanic which are really clunky compared to the much more fun movement.

- If you are not invested in the stickers and cosmetics, there is no use for money except for a health boost, which can be annoying to pull in and out of if you're using it to facetank damage for time attacks.

This is really impressive for a mod. Almost as good as you'd expect a full Portal DLC to be, but there are a few things that hold it back:

- Underutilised new environments and mechanics
- Characters aren't as fleshed out as they could be, which is a shame as they are pretty likeable
- Similarly, the story ends quite abruptly. The post-credits scene wraps it up a bit though

This is basically the Entropy: Zero 2 of Portal mods. A new, reasonably sized campaign with a bunch of the best parts of the original, but held back a little more due to what is probably a wide array of perfectly reasonable factors. Absolutely worthy of the praise it gets in the other reviews, and a really good injection of Portal content.

Wonderful game. Expands on the original in the best possible way, and provides an excellent range of puzzles.

Excellent to see a game that provides a solid 30 hours of quality content. I strongly recommend playing the first game before this though, just so you know what's going on in the wider world around the puzzles.

I had an incredible time with this game. Astounding attention to detail, interesting characters, and a great sense of pacing and player agency, which is saying a lot for a visual novel.

Creating art for the cards is fun as well, and the simple tools are easy to use to make your own creations.

I'm not that far into the game, but I feel like this one is being unfairly slated.

It's not the first game, for better or for worse, but it's nice to see something new done with the DD formula. Where the intense feelings of loss you got with losing party members is gone (and that was a big selling point along with sanity breaks), plenty of adaptations have been made to make the run-to-run gameplay fun.

It would have been so easy for them to make a new town and update the graphics, and engage in the 'decay through repetition' format a lot of games go through these days, but they decided to be experimental and I think the result is well worth your time. Just a few words of warning:

- There is no 'town', and the plot is less coherent as a result. It has been replaced with an area to spend the metacurrency and assemble your party. Quirks are randomised, so that can guide you into using new party members (and stop you from using certain layouts as crutches).

- It seems like you need to pump a LOT of hours in to unlock new moves, character attributes, and in-game items.

- The game is very hard, and seemingly designed for people that are REALLY into the combat strategising.

Watch a little bit of gameplay first, and time yourself so you can refund the game if you really want to, but there's a lot to like here and to throw that out because 'le Slay the Spire map is bad' is a waste of what is clearly a deep, engaging game.

Loved this game to start with, and its modding scene. However...

There is a known anomaly with the smooth motion controls on some systems, where texture pop-in will occur three-feet in front of you, and there is no known cause or issue for this. VALVe has known about this for some months and has done nothing to resolve it, so the game has been pretty much ruined for me by this problem. If an update corrects this, I will change my review.

Genuinely does not get the attention it deserves. Sure the graphics are simple and the moment-to-moment gameplay can be a bit slow, but the wider loop of translating the fictional language, learning more about the world, and uncovering the mystery of Heaven's Vault are an experience not to be missed.

It is incredible to have something this good just jump up out of nowhere. This has an insanely high level of content, and about 4/5ths of the content DMC had when it released. Every ounce of it is incredibly polished.

The combat has a good level of complexity on top of its 'to the beat' gimmick, AND it has a full Bloody Palace, which Bayo 3 just didn't provide.

Must-play, easy 10/10

Only a bit of the way through so far, but I have already had a great experience with this mod. Cutscenes feel so much more immersive when I'm the one manually throwing books around and breaking the teleporter.

Fantastic mod, incredible attention to detail and writing that brings so many different threads from Half Life 2 together into what feels like the finale we never had (almost).

It's free as well. Incredible to think such dedication persists in these difficult times, and that people are willing to give the fruit of that labour away.
