Honestly I'm a cynical bastard and dislike the GetMotivated, wholesome, Laugh, Love, Live stuff. But this game is actually incredible. There is a genuineness here that I don't get from other places. The music is wonderful, the aesthetic is on point and the layout is clean and intuitive. The paper planes are a brilliant addition to the game making it actually feel like you're online together instead of it just being a static message board. And the stickers are a nice touch for those of us who like progression even if it's minor.

The only thing I want to bring up is the line limit. I get why it's there and in many ways I think it's a smart choice. But for me, as someone who likes to write longer texts it feels very constraining. Then again it does force me to focus on the things I really want to say and makes me respond to many requests instead of a singular long one.

Big recommendation for anyone who wants some extra love and positivity in their lives! Normally a sentence like that would make me barf but the mail Deer has turned me into a softie!

An objective review for the most subjective of games.

To the Moon isn't so much a game as it is a visual novel. The gameplay is extremely limited and consists mostly of walking from one story segment to the next. I'd go even so far to say that there are some unnecessary play sections that mess with the story pacing. There are some play sections that enhance the story but these also are limited and rare. The graphics are sharp, nicely colored and have a good amount of detail. The soundtrack is absolutely stellar and elevates the game to a higher level. I just wish these compositions had full orchastration because it's that good.

So as you might come to expect the story is brilliant. It walks a fine line between sentimental and dramatic and knows when to be subtle. With a lot of media that have this "feels" tag surrounding them I feel like the story is trying to force me to get emotional. However that is not the case here at all and that is a huge testament to the structure and writing in this game. Especially the use of recurring motives makes this game memorable and leaves you satisfied after the perfect ending.

Going into details about characterization, writing and so forth is trivial. If you want to talk about this game you should sit down next to someone and discuss it. This game is a gem that deserves all the praise that it gets and everyone should try it. Because I for one, would sure as hell like to play it for the first time again.
