Easily the worst part of the loco add-on bundle set.

A reskin of a locomotive that we already have in TSW 3, without any model or sound changes whatsoever. It is literally just a reskin, nothing different in this pack other than that. You get some scenarios, but even then, it brings nothing new to the table whatsoever. The best part is that you technically get it for "free" if you buy the bundle.

I absolutely love the F7, looks fantastic in screenshots, and they definately knocked it out of the park with texturing and model details, as well as the new horn sounding pretty good.

The biggest downside with this addon is the fact that it doesn't include any freight cars. I understand its a "what-if restoration" type deal, but even then, its highly unrealistic to throw some BNSF rolling stock behind some 1950s/60s locomotives. That alone is a dealbreaker for this addon for me. I would easily reccomend this if it actually had some proper rolling stock for timetable mode.

Devs intentionally released an anti-cheat(??) update that broke all accesibility mods. People who are hard of hearing, need colorblind settings, or even just want to use virtual desktop to play the game on a quest are SOL. Somehow a free game is a waste of space on your hard drive, congrats devs.

I'll eat crow pie and redo my review. Since the last time I have played the game, it has come a long, long way. The HUD feels more polished, the new spline tools feel sooo much better to lay tracks, and overall is just a significantly better experience.

The games biggest drawback currently is everything outside of the actual gameplay. The menu still feels very bland and clunky, and the save system is really badly put together, as well as there still not being a true singleplayer option, only creating a server limited to 1 person. If I could differentiate saves better, have a nice experience getting into the game, and actually play the game while completely disconnected from the internet, it would be a seriously fun train sim that I could see myself sinking thousands of hours into.

TL;DR, give it a shot, it's truly come a long way since its rocky start and it can only improve

A fantastic route for US freight fans. It's comparable in quality to Sherman Hill, and provides a wide variety of sights, sounds, and difficulties of trains. Even perfect for railfanning, as there are 2 railfanning spots on the route that you can spawn in on foot to watch trains go by. Obviously it does have its issues, but it is a fantastic route and definately worth the price.

Definately one of the nicer routes available in Train Simulator.

The Surfliner offers fast commuter running in the middle of some of the most populated cities in the US. From the concrete jungle of downtown Los Angeles, to the countryside and beach running, this route also has a variety of sights to see while running. The sounds are fairly well made, and the locomotive and coaches included are very accurate and well detailed. The BNSF ES44DC makes for a great addition to the route, as it adds in the element of freight running on a primarily tight schedule passenger route.

A very faithful successor to the Microsoft Train Simulator version from 2001.

I recently revisited this route after it became available worldwide, and it became one of my personal favorites. The variety of scenery, the modern BNSF GE widecab power and the variety of rolling stock included makes this a fine addition to anyone's train simulator collection. It's always a fun run through mountainous scenery, and especially challenging in rain or snow. My only complaint would be the lack of scenarios included for the ES44DC and SW1500, however you can always run quick drives or get scenarios from the Workshop.

Even though I got it for free, I'd reccomend you get it on sale if you missed out on the period where it was a free gift.

It's a very pleasant pack of Amtrak's 50th anniversary locomotives, made to be a perfect way to celebrate America's primary passenger railroad's 50th birthday. The pack also includes a regular Phase V P42DC without any 50th anniversary markings, as well as an entire set of Superliner passenger cars in everything from Phase II to Phase V, making it a nice pack to run trains on a variety of routes.

The only downside being that the P42 model is based off of the Miami P42DC, which is definately not accurate and not as nicer looking as the G-Trax P42DC from the Empire Builder pack.

One of the very few DLCs that I really can't reccomend to anyone. Even though the AC6000 isn't bad on the surface, there are some smaller issues that really add up.

The CSX logos look strange, its almost correct but doesn't look right to my eye. The numbers are stretched and overlap eachother. The trucks seem small empty, like its just the frame and wheels. The cab interior isn't bad and is fairly accurate, but its definately noticable that its copy + pasted from the Miami C40-8W and edited slightly. The sounds are pretty average DTG quality, but aren't the worst I've ever heard.

DTG also chose to use the AC6000 in scenarios on the Miami route. The highest horsepower and strongest locomotives on CSX's roster primarily used to haul heavy coal trains, used in flat Florida hauling light trains of aggregate hoppers. Nothing is stopping you from running them on routes like the NS Coal District, but at the same time its a little bit sad to see DTG not advertising the locomotive in where it really shines the most.

Definitely a nice addition to your east coast railroading collection.

The C39-8 is definitely more intricately modeled than other standard DLC, with you being able to open the hood doors, engine starting bay, compressor cabinet, electronics cabinet, and even the bathroom in the nose of the locomotive. The sounds included sound nice, and the interactivity of the controls is a lot of fun. The locomotive also has 3D snow in the winter time, and comes with a clean and weathered version.

The biggest issue with this locomotive is the same reason they aren't around IRL today, the cab. The windows feel like your looking through something the size of a modern iPhone, and the window tint makes it hard to see. That, on top of the locomotive being long hood forward, makes it not as fun to run as other locomotives.

For $10 on sale, it's definitely worth your time, however $20 would be stretching it a little.
