I've become absolutely addicted to this game.

The signals and operations can take a few hours to master, but you always have a cheat sheet to reference while running. It also helps to have a map of the tram system up to get an understanding of what route you'll be taking. The short sprints between stops, the always changing signals, and pretty accurate urban scenery makes it a super interesting run.

My only complaints is that launching the game with SteamVR installed can cause issues with the game in desktop mode ("-nohmd" in the launch options fixes this), and that the actual VR mode itself is significantly buggy, so I wouldn't bother buying the game for the VR mode alone. Sometimes you have to ram into trams and cars to properly continue on with the run, but they dissapear once you hit them and you dont get penalized for it. It takes you out of the realism of it, but its a trade-off for the occasional bugged AI traffic. Performance is also hit-or-miss, though my PC is pretty mid-high range and I get around 30FPS on high settings, so its not all that bad. Sometimes the scenery doesn't load in properly and you'll end up in a floating void, but give it a few seconds and it all loads in so its not a big issue.

The DLC is also worth checking out, as it does add some interesting operational variety, both in driving the tram and in the variety of AI traffic. Having TramSim Munich installed does let you run the R2.2b in Vienna, and vice-versa with the DLC trams in Vienna running in Munich.

Absolutely a must-have for anyone interested in Appalachian mountain steam railroading.

The quality of sounds, textures, and modelling rivals that of Smokebox's Big Boy/Challenger/FEF-3. It's an even nicer bonus of having a dedicated pack of period-correct rolling stock (even if its recycled from other packs) and scenarios to complete the experience (I highly recommend you own the B&O Mountain Sub with this pack to take advantage of the scenarios). Even the price of the pack is a great deal, considering Machine Rail sells the H-9s at $10 each on their own online store.

Easily one of the best "beginner" train sims out there, it's comprehensive tutorials and high fidelity visuals really can capture newer players and introduce them into the hobby. Veteran train sim players might not enjoy the hand-holding, though the graphics are definitely the most advanced currently compared to other train sims on the market.

The 3 included base-game routes are also well-developed and showcase the sequels new features quite nicely. Additional DLCs can very in quality from extremely poor to must-haves, so it's recommended you decide for yourself which DLCs will be worth your money, and will have you the most interested.

All-in-all, you won't regret giving the game a shot, if your a real-life locomotive engineer to just getting into the hobby, there is definitely something you'll find fun.

I really, really want this game to be good, but it just isn't quite there yet. There are some extreme bugs that really ruin a fun industrial sim type game. The devs are at least active in fixing bugs, so there is a good chance the game will have its biggest issues fixed.

The best way to experience this game is thinking of it as an early access game, not quite finished but the concept is there and is being actively worked on.

A pretty nice narrow gauge railroading route. As of writing this review, the issues with the physics, braking, and whistle are being addressed in a future update, so those problems aren't a super big issue.

A nice and cheap addition to Cajon Pass. It adds in some variety of the locomotives you can see on the route, and isn't just an outright reskin of the Union Pacific SD70ACe. For $5.99 you cant really expect anything more than just a quick and cheap addition to add variety to a route, and it does that quite perfectly.

The Good:
- The route itself is quite nice, its decently accurate and it has some nice attention to detail

The Bad:
- The DieselWorkshop RS3 was edited and is completely broken in this DLC (All of the lights are stuck on and cannot be turned off)
- 2 of the locomotives have divide by zero errors when going into the cabview (the HH600 and the ALCo PA)
- The sounds are absolutely horrible. The HH600 will have a random robot screech sound, the rolling noises on railcars are extremely loud, and the horn on the PA barely resembles a horn
- There is a scenario included for the RS3 that gives you an error with one of the AI trains derailing around 30 seconds in
- The visual quality of everything except the RS3 feels extremely out-of-date (Low poly models, really shiny textures)

An absolutely adorable christmas DLC for the holiday season. A faithful recreation of the original Railworks christmas DLC, while adding in some features that only TSW could deliver. DTG also took the time to actually work on some new proof-of-concept features for the route as well, like a driveable RC Willy's Jeep, and working elevators. For $10, its a fantastic cheap and fun addition to the sim that is far less serious than any other route in the game.

The best part of the recent loco add-on bundle release.

Not only do you get a nicely weathered Class 66, you also get completely new maintenance rolling stock that actually functions. The cab has a brand new remote control model for the RHTT, and the RHTT functions, so you can actually turn on the engine and sprayers.
