Early Access Review
Minecrafty playstyle with improved graphics. Alpha 21 balances survival traits with books and magazines to read, and more scarce access to water. Dew collectors help with that.

Co-op survival against the zombified post-apocalyptic environment.

The landscapes are modelled with enough detail to enhance immersion. Sandstorm adds enemy helicopters, drones and bombardment to the mix, compared to the original Insurgency. Bugs have mostly been ironed out, so with good company this provides hours of co-op fun.

FTL doesn't require much resources to run properly. The story is immersive enough, procedural generation increases replay value. The learning curve to manage your ship properly might be bumpy, but that only increases the satisfaction when you manage to defeat the final boss.

A thought out scifi story, with a female protagonist and plenty of puzzles to solve. For example code bruteforcing and circuit implementation. The game itself has help screens that nudge in the right direction, and there are enough online guides so that you can choose to solve the riddles yourself, or grab a hint every now and then.

Art conveys the needed scenes well, with an occasional animated cutscene here and there. The voice acting is worth listening. Plot has some influences from other scifi stories, but can well stand on it's own.

Another great crowdfunded game.

Runs playably even on older hardware, has VR support, works with specialised controllers as well as keyboard + mouse, console players have access to the same universe.

I recommend private instances for playing, if you're not a hardcore PVP fan.

The plot isn't strongly binding, so you're able to find your own thing to do with the spaceship provided. The simulation is not over-the top above the bounds of science, and the attention to detail helps with the immersion.

Weapons and gear help, but piloting skills and tactical insight are the keys to victory. Star Conflict is like multiplayer Descent in relatively short 3-15 min missions. There are multiple available playing styles: dogfights, snipers, jammers, rushers and sneakers to name a few. With time new perks, weapons and defences will be unlocked to your arsenal.

Co-op is key. The game runs quite fine and requires skills of precision and tactics to successfully eliminate the attacking zombies.
