AI basically is broken in campaign.

Many races, most notably the lizards, are just standing there doing nothing. They want to sell more DLCs without fixing these issues first. The only way to voice our dissatisfaction is to make negative reviews.

Change this issue and I change my review. Or maybe just delete it.

CA, as always, with this whole blood thing.

The excuse is "the game can have lower rating without the blood"

Then subtract the DLC value from the Game's total value. Since they dont do it, it is clear theyre employing cutpurse tactics and pickpocketing us for pennies. Pitiful.

Average Score: 6.1/10
Personal Score: D.

Community manager permanently banned me for calling another user "stupid customer". They are downright silencing criticism. Don't buy this game.

The Verdict:
It's all build and no rescue. Plain and simple. While the game is great at the myriad of vehicle blocks and logics to use, physics to be simulated and beauty options it's amazing the number of different aerial, ground and water vehicles you can build, ranging from helicopters, planes, all kind of land vehicles, boats and even submarines, and everything in between these. But it honestly falls apart when using the same vehicle you build. Rescue missions feels underwhelming, sometimes bugged, world lacks more creativity for better use of your vehicles and Multiplayer is completely broken for a long time that I don't care if they fix it in the future, it's already a stain in their reputation for me.

I recommend buying it if you...
  • Enjoy complex vehicle building
  • Enjoy Block-building based games
  • Are familiar with physic based sandbox games
Don't buy it if you...
  • Expect multiplayer to be well designed or even playable
  • Want more action and less building. The gameplay loop is heavily centered towards building the vehicles.
  • Care for realistic or complex graphics in games, this one is very simplistic

Review averages:

General:

  • Mechanics: 8/10. It's the game's strength, with tons of buidable components to your vehicles. You can build simple vehicles to really super complex ones, big ones, automated ones and it also is heavily moddable. What keeps it from getting a higher score here is that multiplayer does not work properly for a lot of stuff, making the mechanics worse in those scenarios many times.

  • Game-play: 5/10. Building takes a lot of time and rescuing is simplistic most of the times. That does not take away the thrill of having a proper working vehicle, though using them gets boring really quick as many missions won't require the complexity which you'll try to achieve with higher end vehicles. Progression and unlocking new tech through your rescue missions was cool, but they revamped it into finding some floating crates on the ocean. Also a lot of broken MP game-play brings the game score's down. Game is not well designed for multiplayer game-play and progression.

  • Graphics/Interface: 8.5/10. Although simple, graphics really fit the game. Although plain texture-less objects the game still feels pretty, and you can get some pretty vehicles done, with a lot of customization options.

  • Content/Surprises: 8/10. Game has TONS of blocks and stuff to put on your vehicles, although missions are somewhat a letdown

  • Lore/Story: 3/10. Just random generated stuff. The game does not have any form of lore/story by the point I've played it. If they added in some recent updates, I missed it cuz lately I mostly played multiplayer. Randomly generated missions could have context, at least some logs for more entertainment, or the world could have a story behind it, of some things that happened.

  • Music/Sound: 6/10. Sound design is generally good, but could be improved. Some noises have poor quality or do not sound realistic. The game does take care with a lot of sounds of sea, air and storms that add to the immersion of the game, but it also feels like it's lacking more sounds sometimes.

  • Bugs and Performance: 4.5/10. It's expected from a physics based game to have some bugs and performance hiccups, but this game is broken on MP. And the game is advertised as providing equal multiplayer experience as the single player counterpart. On the single player part, many performance bugs and fixes have been done to improve stuff, but with many additions I still think the game lags unnecessarily sometimes. As with any sandbox physics building game you'll need to have patience with performance sometimes.

Extras:

  • Devs have problems communicating and addressing community problems: To the point a clown representing the company dissed at criticism and claimed the game was too hard to be improved, suggesting many had unrealistic expectations for the game. YOU are the one selling the game, my friend, not me. It's not my problem how hard it is, you promise something, you need to deliver something, and if you can't deliver it properly you WILL BE criticized. I'll quote their comment below:
If you check the comments, I am sure you will find a few multi-threading and optimization arm chair experts who think the game just needs to run faster.

  • Development time wasted towards "off topic" content : Devs release a DLC with combat oriented content. I understand, basically half the community was requesting the devs worked properly on combat oriented stuff, but with a lot of other aspects of the game still bugged, under developed and multiplayer simply being poorly designed and broken in some situations, it is baffling they focus on adding more building stuff and completely forgetting the "rescue" part.

Reviewer Notes: The game has a good foundation for building and crafting vehicles, with even logic gates and coding stuff to be used with the vehicles, but it lacks on uses for them in game. Game could easily have a ton of exploration content, more intricate missions and massive rescue efforts. Game also could've been much better if properly developed for multiplayer, or devs should've dropped multi altogether and focused on an improved single player experience.

FOOTNOTE: Im currently not able to reply the comments on this review, which is weird as ♥♥♥♥. I have my replies to you guys ready on a copy paste, if Steam decides to work again later I'll paste them here. TY for your input and politeness

FOOTNOTE#2: I'm guessing since Ive been permanently banned from their community, I can't comment on my own review, lol. Either way, my opinion doesn't change, I've give enough time to do this, and I bought a product which does not fully convey what is advertised. Icing on the cake is the use of a steam feature, intended to keep the community civilized, being used a weapon to silence criticism. Definitely a hard pass for me.

Rapid Day 1 Review

Personal Score: A.

*This is a quickfire review just to shed some light on elements while I have more time to play the game and give a proper review on the full experience available.

I recommend buying it if you...
  • Have enjoyed the first game regardless of roguelike element
  • Have seen videos and devlogs on it and liked what you saw
  • Love beautiful space dog fights with lasers, explosions & sound in space and a lot of speed
  • Like games where you need to keep a lot of items (skills) to activate and use at proper time
  • Like the idea of "closed quarters" space flight
Don't buy it if you...
  • Expect a multiplayer mode
  • Expect pilotable capital ships and destroyers
  • Are not into games that can’t save anywhere
  • Expect other than english language support for EA
  • Expect a well developed story. The cutscenes are barebones atm

The Verdict:

The game looks beautiful, flies like the first title, with a fast paced dogfight arcade flight action. Ships explode in space, they make a lot of sound, and the OST feels promising. I feel really tempted to explore new places that pop out on FTL travel. Enjoying a lot right now.
The game obviously is in Early Access so I can see a lot of possible improvements, but the content is already astonishing for an Early Access.

General views on the game as of date:

I’m really enjoying the game. Devs are really open about the game’s progress, and listen to community feedback, although what you want is not guaranteed to happen.

The overall gameplay may get repetitive to some, but new mechanics are expected to arrive from now till late 2022 when game's release will happen. Right now you'll mostly have the first system to explore with hand crafted scenarios. Many secrets will require solution of extremely simple puzzles, like pressing buttons quickly before timer rans out, reflecting lasers, seek n find parts scattered or grab some debri and threw it out of the way. Although extremely simple, these are a nice break from all the combat (which is the main foundation of the game), and are another promising potential for a great mix of combat and exploration.

FTL OST falls flat compared to other OST. The game has great ambience, and non combat music feels even better than their combat counterparts. I’m expecting OST will get more diversity tho.

Cutscenes feel like they’ll be improved and if that happens it’ll do wonders for those parts. For the moment, cutscenes are basically placeholders, and although the very first ones have some sort of promising feeling on them, you'll quickly ran out. The story will be purposely held till 1.0, as per devs statements.

I loved the minimal HUD, although I would love the mto improve a bit on it, with maybe some flair and flavor, adding some lights, maybe a dim neon to the HUD edges? Game overall beauty is really fitting the atmosphere.

It's a free DLC that WORKS. Just ignore negative reviews and download it. The game alone is already amazing.

People complaining about it have a problem in their end. It's like giving a game a negative review because it didn't ran well on your Dual Core with built in graphics card.

Average Score: 8.1/10
Personal Score: A+.

The Verdict:
Although I don’t recommend the game to any casual, it is an AMAZING experience for those who come from the first game. I had a good time playing, graphics were smooth, and overall the game was a great improvement from the first one. I was expecting more in some areas though, but nothing is perfect, I guess… Also 8.1 may be the highest score I’ve ever given to a game. Maybe the third one will have an even better score...

I recommend buying it if you...
  • Want to experience the full trilogy of Witcher games.
  • Have played the first game.
  • Played so much GWENT that you really want to know what are all those cards about.
Don't buy it if you...
  • Are looking for a long lengthed game.
  • Think this is a full open world RPG.
  • Don’t know jack about the Witcher series.

Review averages:

General:

  • Mechanics: 8/10. They’re greatly improved, but there are still faults. Some weird hitboxes sometimes, problems trying to loot things. But it is indeed a much smoother experience than the first one.

  • Gameplay: 8/10. Generally good experience. Controls are responsive, and if you played the first one, you’ll feel a huge leap. There are some hindrances though, like they still don’t warn you the best time to use your potions, which are a major part of the gameplay. Inventory management is a pain and ingredients weighing you down? By god, it’s skyrim all over again. It could’ve been a 10/10 here...

  • Graphics/Interface: 7.5/10. Another one that could’ve been a 10 score. Good graphics, loved most of the visual effects. The blood and gore really gave the game a charm. Dark places are not stupidly dark as the first one. Interface though? Inventory management is bad, can’t compare swords on shop with the ones you’ve got equipped. Interface is beautiful visually speaking, but it needed more testing. It’s not good.

  • Content/Surprises: 6/10. I expected a larger range of content, but the game had good surprises. Not that much variety of weapons available, nor armor. Traps felt cool at first, but didn’t glance much joy. Skill tree was interesting, but it lacks emotion. I don’t like skill trees that only improve things statiscally. I want new moves, new spells. I was disappointed. Also, didn’t need to read a single thing about monsters, unlike in the first one.

  • Lore/Story: 10/10. I’m sorry guys, this is the first 10 I give to a lore. I LOVED this story. I know it’s based on a book, but many others managed to screw even with reference content. I’ve got myself asking people about everything I could. I really wanted to learn about what was transpiring in this backstabbing, witchery cloak’n daggery world. Loved the politics, everything felt crude and real. Violence, self centering, rape, murder, prejudice. This is the real world, baby.

  • Music/Sound: 7.5/10. Amazing theme music, loved SFX. Lack of background music though. Again, a game that could have an amazing array of background music choose to have like almost no music at all. Playing games without music is boring. This is a medieval world, just pick like twenty medieval songs and scatter them through the game. It’s not hard, and they had the money to do this. No complaints about SFX. Responsive, they helped give life to the game.

  • Bugs and Performance: 8.5/10. Mostly no bugs, but not free. I experienced only one crash through the entire playthrough. Game ran smooth, but steam cloud ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up loading games. Had to turn it off. OH, AND MY BELOVED DICE POKER WAS BUGGED? Seriously, I played against everyone in the first game, because I loved that simple idea. Not only the dice poker was rigged in the second game, it was also bugged? Completely frustrating.

Extras:

  • Overall experience: 9/10. Aside from my personal complaints, it was an amazing experience. Not only I recommend this game, I enjoyed playing it, specially chapter 2 & 3. The first one was kinda slow, but after I got to the second chapter, I beat the game in like a day. I was extremely hooked.

  • Game’s Life: 6.5/10. Rather short and I don’t want to play it again. Simple as that. Although the overall experience was amazing, I never want to play this game again, not even to do the other choices I haven’t made. I rushed through it because I’m really expecting the third to be way better...

  • Price (Worthiness): 10/10. Totally worth full price. Even though it’s playtime is short, it gives you a complete experience, and delivers what it promises. It’s not the best RPG out there, but it’s exceptionally good if you want to beat all 3 games.

Review Notes:
I’ve had a great experience playing this game, even though I expected a little more in some areas. Nothing will be perfect, and no game will ever get a full 10 out 10 of me. I’m so hooked into the story, and I’ve made some choices I regret, but this makes me just feel more into the game. A good experience if you’re looking to understand the whole Witcher saga trilogy. I’ve played the game with an Xbox Controller. I do not recommend playing it on M&KB. Oh, and even though I have 40 hours on record, believe me, most of that time was me sleeping or leaving the game open while I got to the grocery store. I spent some good 15 to 20 hours, and I'm a slow player. Hardcore players may beat the game in 6 hours or less.

Average Score: 6.5/10
Personal Score: B.

Price: Worth, on sale.

The Verdict:
TW: Attila gave me a good time while playing, but it adds almost nothing new to the series. That, mixed with the essential content being thrown it sparse DLCs, I can’t recommend the game to anyone. There are cheaper titles with even more content and have similar mechanics, like Shogun 2 and Empire, and also there are newer better for casuals, like Warhammer 1 & 2 and the upcoming 3K, which you should be on the lookout.

I recommend buying it IF you...
  • Are familiar with TW series or have watched gameplay videos of this game
  • Are looking for formation tactics based game
  • Don’t mind a slower pace game that does not fit a work day
  • Are mostly looking to fight rather than manage
Dont buy it if you...
  • Don’t know nothing about these series
  • Can’t stand CA ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ policy on DLC
  • Can’t stand scripted harshiness thrown at the player with a lack of level design plan
  • Want an intricate, or at least good city management system

Review averages:

General:

Note: I’m reviewing only the combat system of the game here. I think CA suck on city management, and Attila failed to deliver, as all other TW I’ve experienced, a good city managing system

  • Mechanics: 8/10. I’ve gotta say as a newcomer to the series, battling was really addictive. I’ve played Medieval 2 before, but only on friend’s places. Decided to go for ATTILA after almost ten years later, and the combat system is something I’ve never seen. Choosing formation accordingly, building a balanced army and learning with your mistakes. It does it’s job here.

  • Graphics/Interface: 7.5/10. Graphics are fine, and interface fits the game. It’s not exceptional though, and you need DLCs to have a wider range of variety, along with mods to get better textures.

  • Content/Surprises: 6.5/10. While campaigns have some good challenges, the game feels too repetitive with a lot of different factions and settings. Also, there’s a constant need of scripted events to bring the “famine” and starvation feeling, hindering any concrete progress, leading to some frustration. Charlemagne DLC felt way better.

  • Lore/Story: 8/10. No complaints here, the game does have some historical accuracy, which fits my levels of exigency. Quests challenges you to change historical events, and scripted events try to follow their historical settings.

  • Music/Sound: 6/10. There are some good SFX, but there are less speeches, and a lot of repeated noises. Music is bland and does not add to the experience.

Extras:

  • Greediness: 4.5/10. This game is above average greedy. Instead of packing some good 2 to 3 DLCS, with a lot of content on each, the game breaks down into 8 DLCs, taking off basic features like BLOOD AND GORE, something you would expect from a game that it’s main factor is it’s realistic and immersive battles. Diversity of the game is only found after buying some good 6 DLCs. Really disappointing.

  • Bugs and performance: 7/10. I have not encountered a single bug in my playthroughs, and that was a surprise. Maybe I’m much of a casual, but in my 60 hours of this game I have yet to experience a crash.

  • Worthiness: 5/10. DLCs could’ve been smarter, with a more fair content. The game is somewhat worth it, but I feel ripped off that I have to buy a separate DLC for blood and gore content.

Review Notes:
While I had some amazing experiences with TW: Attila, some potential feel wasted and rushed. The game has good characteristics, but most of these aspects are found in older titles, giving this one little innovating content. Add that to the fact that the DLCs are money hungry, the overall game is just not worth it. Totally worth on sale though.

Average Score: 6.9/10
Personal Score: B+.

The Veredict:
An amazing game for old school race fans, for hard racing games fans, and for those who want some split screen quick fun in their library. This game had a great potential, and I personally think they used half of it. This game could’ve been a masterpiece of it’s time

I recommend buying it IF you...
  • Love and have nostalgia at F-ZERO like games
  • Enjoy global score and time attack like challenges
  • Are looking for a good split screen racing game with almost no setup before racing
Dont buy it if you...
  • Can’t stand difficult racing games
  • Don’t have a controller available to play
  • Think this game is something similar to Mario Kart genre

Review averages:

General:

  • Mechanics: 8/10. Using old mechanics with addition of items, it all fits together nicely without any bugs. There’s almost nothing new here, but it all fits the high speed with the immersive universe.

  • Graphics/Interface: 7/10. Although stages are MARVELOUS, the ships design feels wrong. A major letdown that ships do not have at least texture. They have an amazing silhouette and identity, but they lack texture. I know they were going for a F-ZERO like visual, but it just does not fit. I’m being more than fair with this 7 score.

  • Content/Surprises: 7/10. New tracks are always amazing to experience, tournaments feel right, but ships disappoint. New tier ships bring more speed to the game, and new stages brings a lot of life to the game, but ships progression is just bad. I don’t know how it could be better, but it feels that they just wasted a heck of potential this game had.

  • Lore/Story: 6/10. It is regular for a race game: There’s none. I’m not saying race games need actual story to be enjoyed, but, as stated before, this game had enormous potential, and I feel some was wasted here. It’s an average, for a racing game.

  • Music/Sound: 8.5/10. Greatly enjoyable, didn’t bore me like others, SFX are SO APPEALING. Outstanding work on this section, maybe more because most games don’t spend much time creating a fitting music and responsive environment. Everything fits here. While it’s not exceptional, it does it’s job more than well.

Extras:

  • Something new/old: 7/10. The games uses old stuff, but gold stuff. Using regular and known mechanics from race games dating back to early 90’s, they’ve translated them well into this modern racer.

  • Bugs and performance: 8/10. Haven’t experienced any bugs or crash, which gave me a great experience. Above average.

  • Worthiness: 4/10. This game is too pricey for it’s content. I had an amazing time playing the game, but it’s life is short. Bear in mind I didn’t beat the game, due to it’s difficulty, leading to some frustration, which I think is personal, but even then, check other reviewers playtime. It does not go too far.

Review Notes:

I bought the game on sale, and think it was totally worth it. Not for play time, but for the nostalgia feel. It is also a game to play with friends on split screen, which gave me some more entertaining games on my library to some old friends. The game does not lie about it’s contents, and deliver what is promised. Ships design on both graphical and develop is disappointing though, and I think this is where it failed to become a masterpiece of it’s time.
