Hearkening back to my childhood playing the very first video games, including many hours of Doom, this reboot is a master class on how to leverage the modern tools at your disposal to properly pay homage to such a classic.
Nearly everything about this game was done 'right' and was a pleasure to go through from start to finish.

A fun few hours to be had in this little gem of a more-or-less "family friendly" game. Even though there are no guns or things to kill, the threat of falling to what would realistically be a terrible way to die looms large when traversing massive distances and across big chasms. The jovial way one accompanying character suggests you traverse a specific secion without using your life-saving grappling hook belies the terrible fate that surely awaits you if you fail - luckily this game doesnt "go there" and infinate and constant re-spawning back to frequent nearby save points keeps the game flowing and keeps the game PG showing no blood or the like. Even the 'creatures' you meet echo the feeling this game was meant for kids, but the challanges faced are sometimes difficult enough to keep most adults busy and developing sore keyboard fingers.
The games graphics seem a bit dated for a 2014 title, especially the character movements, but otherwise the settings were intriguing and colorful, level design was a fun platformer, music and narration was nice and a big part of the esthetic of the game. The idea of the story, and the easter eggs of the scripts in the house were a nice touch.

A Story about how I "accidentilly" beat the game.
I had made the mistake of skipping one section, a cave filled with floating boxes to traverse, to focus on what I though was just a cleverly challanging blocked passage to a hidden area seen at a distance - finally just barely managing to make my way through, moving on to finish the game from there, only to later go back, clear the floating boxes 'room' and discover that completing that challange takes down the obstacles that previously blocked my path and helped explain an aspect of the crystals strewn about the world that would have absolutely helped me traverse the tougher sections later on. It's actually quite amazing that I managed to make it through some of the challanges without knowing what those crystals did for me. They either designed it that way, or each of those challanges i had figured out an oversight in level design that allowed me to traverse those obstacles without knowing to make use of those crystals (lets just say I could tell the areas above some of the paths that i was supposed to be in were not where i was supposed to be - as i could tell by the clipping through textures I often saw there - but they allowed me to reset my precious few power core charges enough to move on).

Worth tens of dollars? Not particularly, but using my $1/1Hour top value scale, this games few hours was well worth the $3.49 sale price I paid for it. Though a good hour or so was likely spent working on those challanges that kept me busy trying to figure out.
I don't think i'll bother with the time-trials, and the replayability is not likely as nearly all paths are one way.

The grappling reminds me of the fantastic fun I had playing Bionic Commando, so this game will likely be memorable for a few scenes.

I ended up getting the program while its on it's moderate sale, the value of the program may be revealed after months or years of use if it really starts to give FPS gains on some of my lower powered systems .. it "works" but having a 6 core CPU, and for the GPU intensive games I more often play it doesn't do too too much, but it did pull a few more FPS on some tests - and it appears the game loading's and menu-to-game-environment transitions are sometimes a bit more zippy (hard to measure unless I recorded a video and analyzed the timings).
I'd imagine, over a longer period in real world usage in a game where you occasionally would typically notice lagging -this program might (and is known to) help keep performance dips from dropping as far.
Especially when Twitch broadcasting and other recording stuff.
It's performance benefits may be much more noticeable on my moderately zippy laptop that lags bad for some games (I'm looking at you Lost Planet! A newer and better looking game like Tomb Raider runs WAY better than you!). I'll have to run separate tests for it.

I will update my review when I run more tests, but can say it's an interesting concept and can see potential for systems more prone to background programs hogging resources.

I cannot help but adore this game. Ever since that epic cinematic slow-motion teaser trailer came out, with it's haunting classical music theme, culminating in a pretty "What the ...?" cliffhanger making you wonder "who?, why?, is that her?", I was in love with this game.
It turned out to be one of the quintessential cornerstones in the franchise's reign, bridging the gap from old-school graphics to the now more dated beginnings of 'Next Gen' graphics, this game just blossomed with fantastic setpieces, creative puzzles, envigorating score, and epic story that even to this day I dream of playing again and again. I can look past the now age-dusted graphics to see one of Croft's finest games of the old-style. The new games are fantastic in very different ways. Their gritty realism and nearly movie-worthy cinematics bode well for a knuckle clenching adventure, but Underworld was a final bow with a standing ovation to a time when the games felt a bit more like a game.

I've nominated it for the 2016 Steam Awards 'Test of time' award because it is a game that has stuck with me for almost a decade as one that I would brag about to others as being a game that i've played more than once and still have aspirations and daydreams about playing again.
There were other good contenders for this same award, such as Mirrors Edge, for its breaking of the mould and stunning design esthetic; Deus Ex: Human Revolution also for its design detail and depth of ways to approach each playthrough; to lesser known gems like Robot Roller Derby Disco Dodgeball, that just brings you back to elementary highschool Dodgeball, but the satisfaction of making the impossible hits from across a obstacle-riddled arena; and the more popular Warframe, who's devoted development teams continued involvement in the evolution of the (truly)Free-to-Play mod-heavy and extremely co-op friendly environment makes the game ultra satisfying to sink hours upon hours of your life into (unfortunately, that very overwhelming aspect of that game's continued expansion and risk of keeping me from growing and exploring other games makes the love of that game a bitter-sweet pill to swallow, and why I found it hard, even after sinking litterally the most hours i've ever played a single game (now over 200 hours), to give the Test of Time award to. Because at some point, i can see myself years from now, playing through another few hours to finish another round of Underworld, whearas Warframe, and all it's changes will every single time become such a fight to catch up and learn all the new features and ways to play.)

Early Access Review
Wow, this is such a cool more-than-just-an-arcade-style-racing game!
I only just dipped a toe in, so will revise my review once i've clocked an unhealthy amount of hours in it :D
Great music!
Some of the best transitions between physics environments (or however to word that) i've seen in a long time ... flying over to a wall and then riding that ... so unique.
The car is AWESOME.
Flight controls via keyboard almost made me hurl at first, so instead of trying to fight through it, I switched over to my Xbox controller and picked up the flight style quite quickly after that.

The levels in the story mode so far are wonderfully weird. I just experienced a crazy section where i was warped through the same section a couple times by some tear in time or something, around some sort of experiment that appeared to go wrong, at times leaving the world in ruins ... pretty amazing stuff for what on the surface appears to be just a tron-esque racing game.

Even at its Beta status it's looking to be a winner and plenty worth the chunk of money to help support a really cool project. I'm glad I gave it a shot ... i've got almost 200 games in my Library awaiting my hard won attention and I HAPPILY downloaded and played this game moments after purchase.

Wow. What a great puzzle game. Got so into it, so blown away by the beautiful and creative level design that I actually completely the entire thing on one pass, something I don't believe i've ever done before. There was one moment where I was quite tired (it WAS like 3am) and exited, but once I saw an achievement I knew i'd easilly be able to complete, I popped back into the game and ended up going on till the end. 4 Hours total ... which I find is a bit short for a game with such wonderful features. I know it was hard to create and all, but now what? I MAY be able to play the game another time or two, but other than that I'm done. It's all over. I can only hope the game gets good reviews and attention and the studios decide to continue on to a second installment. But that is doubtful considering the genre.
The ending was a tad anticlimactic, it didnt even have the wonderful atmospheric music that was at one point in the middle of the game very prominantly featured in a 'scene' that was hinted to in part of the trailer for the game. My point, THAT scene was COOL, and the ending should have at least been that cool or better.
The character you control has certain lifelike characteristics, likely part of the idea presented in the title for the game itself. Even the ending had me at least TRY to commit a 'humane' act prior to commiting to something more ... utilitarian? I gather this is exactly what was expected by the game creators. Bravo to them on a great game that makes you think.
Level design was phenominal!!! The atmosphere was moody and the special effects, especially when you went under water or into the dark, were an absolute delight and an outstanding use of the technology at hand (running on the impressive Unreal engine). Though a 2D platformer style game, the 3Dimensional effects of the environment was impressive and at times very deep and detailed.
Music was atmospheric and beautiful.
Physics is an absolutely integral aspect of the game, and it did not dissapoint. I dont know if a PhysX engine (via an Nvidia card) would have introduced anything extra into this game (if they even put extra support/effects for PhysX), but it ran beautifuly on my moderatly powered AMD A8 APU based laptop.

If you have any love for quality puzzle based games, this game is absolutely a wonder to behold. Though a tad short and questionably lackluster ending leave you wanting more, as a whole I'd say "wanting more" is a very good alternative to anything less.

Glad I got this on sale, but so far I'm finding it so cool I could have easilly spent more if I knew just how interesting it was. Intriguing developing story, and awesome effects, with some very cool interactions with the environment.

Not as 'heavy handed' in the Zombie aspects compared to many other games (and TV shows & Movies) on the subject, so I very much appreciated that, as I've never been a huge fan of such a concept; Deadlight is a lot more about the experience of the stunningly and beautifully detailed environment, story and soundtrack. The utter simplicity of the gameplay and brilliantly 3Dimentional experience in a 2D 'Platformer' style game was just such a joy. This is a real gem of a game.

Incredible! Sets the bar higher for so many gaming aspects, such as its genre, top-level and inovative game mechanics and technical design, stunning set design, score, AI, and engaging gameplay ...etc. Now breaking a personal record with a staggering 46 hours + of single-player gameplay, the game rarely if ever felt boring for a walk-around-and-'talk'-to-everyone style pseudo-sandbox game. However, near the end, building up a powerful arsenal and earning a high level of upgrades and piles of credits, the game ends leaving you a bit .... dissapointed that you couldnt spend more of the credits to max out all possible upgrades and explore everything your augmentations can award you for all your time and effort in picking up every little rewards opportunity in the vast game world.

Completed the video game Hydrophobia today; my feelings towards the game are mixed, as was the case with many reviews around the gaming industry and with gamers. The dynamic water effects and the related ways that water plays a huge part in not only how you get around, but how you deal with situations and fight enemies, was very unique and in many ways worth experiencing for the avid gamer and those looking to see a new type of game mechanic. The water felt considerably realistic in movement.
There are unfortunately many things to not like about the game.
