Excellent short, story-focused game. I saw everything there was to see in 2-3 hours. If you're looking for a creepy, fun experience, give it a shot! Note there is a fair amount of repetition that could grow boring for some folks. If you're patient and don't mind repeating a few tasks, I think you'll find something here to enjoy.

Length - The Medium is a fairly short game (I left it idle a little bit, but it's probably an 8-10 hr experience for most people).

Visuals - The aesthetic of the game as a whole is very pleasing, and I enjoyed my trek through the supernatural. The environments were properly creepy and cool at the same time. Excellent ghost/spirit/monster design too.

Music - 10/10 - I love Akira Yamaoka. Sue me.

Story - I found the world created to be pretty interesting, but I can see a lot of people being dissatisfied with the way the plot wraps up. I thought it was okay, personally, but I'd have changed a few things (won't get into specifics for the sake of avoiding spoilers).

Gameplay - Fairly similar to Silent Hill as far as exploration is concerned. There isn't really combat to speak of. The coolest thing that the game has to offer is the splitscreen segments where you're viewing things through the normal world and through a psychic lens simultaneously. Some fun puzzles were created where you have to utilize elements of both worlds. An annoyance I had is that there is a power you can use (super-special medium powers) to help you investigate. It's almost always to your advantage to run around holding the psychic button since it helps you find things in the environment. I'd have preferred to be given a reason to run around without that button being pressed from time to time aside from the fact that your vision gets a little blurry.

Overall, I really enjoyed the game. I'm excited to see what Bloober does with Silent Hill soon! I'd also be happy to play another game in The Medium universe.

It's a lovely combination between deck-building, rogue-like, and tower defense. I enjoy all those genres, so this is a pretty good fit for me!

One complaint I have is how punishing RNG can be sometimes. Typically, you need to get your "engine" rolling quickly from stage to stage, and sometimes opening hands can be really punishing. But hey, that's RNG for you. Overall, I can't complain too much.

Do not touch the ambulant skulls!
Or you will die.

Hylics is a goofy, avant-garde RPGMaker game that focuses more on experience and art rather than on traditional story-telling. If you're looking for a deep storyline, I'm sure there's some sort of narrative woven into the meaty, "effulgent" fabric of the universe somewhere, but it is mostly obscured by the bizarre dialogue.

As far as mechanics are concerned, "leveling up" isn't really done in this game. All of your power is obtained via consumables, equippables, and interacting with certain items in the world. I enjoyed the experience since it diverged a bit from most RPGs I've played in recent years.

Time-wise, you can probably beat this in a few hours on your first playthrough. If you feel like "mastering" things and playing again, it will likely go much faster for you.

Overall, I enjoyed the game. Not the best thing I've ever played, but it was a fun experience.

Great game, though the current content is a little limited.

The game itself is basically Dominion + kawaii. If you enjoy deckbuilders, you'll find a lot to like here. My biggest complaints are that the single-player campaign is very short (25 individual games with 3 missions to complete per game), and that the AI is pretty darn stupid. If you do quickplay, you'll have to misplay pretty badly to lose. The campaign is a bit more challenging simply because the missions force you to win via a very specific method. Sometimes it's very frustrating to accomplish the missions because you're completely at the mercy of the AI in some ways. For example, the AI often buys up the cheapest cards in the game very quickly, exhausting their piles in a flash. The game ends when 3 of these piles are exhausted...so that can happen before you have a chance to complete the mission.

Complaints aside, this is a great multiplayer game. If you have friends you want to play with, then I definitely recommend it.

This game is fun and scratches an itch for me that lots of modern JRPGs don't scratch. P4G does an excellent job of developing characters and making you care about their well-being. The gameplay can occasionally get repetitive and grindy, but it's not too bad as far as RPGs are concerned.

Additionally, as this is a heavily story-focused game, if you want to get the most story possible on one playthrough, I recommend using a guide to help you max out important social links and character stats. If you're somebody who has the patience for a "new game plus," then you can always fly in blind and attempt to perfect everything on playthrough number 2. As a warning, it's wildly unlikely you'll max out EVERY single thing on one playthrough.

Great game overall; a mish-mash of genres. It's basically a match-four, rogue-like, deck-building, RPG. You play as Bumbo, a cartoony hobo who lives in the trash and collects coins. You're on a dungeon-crawling quest in search of a coin that was stolen from you, and you encounter lots of icky monsters along the way.

Every round of combat consists of the player making moves on a game-board, lining up tiles to get matches of four or more. Each tile-type grants a different type of spell-casting resource, and the spells help you destroy your enemies. After the player has expended their moves, the AI gets a chance to move closer or to attack the player. This formula repeats throughout each stage of the game in various forms, but with increasing difficulty and complexity.

The concept is solid, and the gameplay is fun. For those who are fans of The Binding of Isaac, the developers' earlier game, the art style will feel very familiar and similarly charming and gross in equal measures.

Funny idea, but the execution was poor. Ultimately, training and competition segments were based exclusively on mashing one button as much as possible for a minute at a time. Too much of a chore of a game to make it past the first trainer or two.
