A straight improvement over XCOM:EU. The EXALT story thread adds some extra depth to the core narrative and the time-sensitive MELD resource works well to counteract the boringly optimal overwatch crawl approach by incentivising taking risks and moving across the map faster.

A worthy successor to the classic XCOM franchise. Aside from general RNG meanness, the only glaring flaw is that the optimal strategy remains shuffling inch-by-inch across the map to minimize the number of aliens you're dealing with at once - and that's a little un-fun.

a tight and joyful little climbing game where you can ascend any slope that's less than ninety degrees

exactly the sort of witch-finding I like; there are no witches, only vindictive townsfolk and all supernatural claims have rational explanations. the stop-motion cut scenes are a great vibe
