If you were still under the impression Higurashi's mysteries were interesting, here's where that illusion will be entirely shattered. Congratulations for sitting through all the unnecessary and absurdly dragged out scenes.

Higurashi was promising during the question arcs, but it turns out all the answers were boring. Can someone hire Ryukishi an editor? There was no reason this whole thing needed to be longer than the Bible.

Interesting and well-written otome game, though definitely low on romance. Hikage is best boy.

Honestly some of the worst writing I've seen in a commercial otome game. The plot is basically non-existent and consists of a string of random, unrelated scenes that all get cut off right before something is actually about to happen, after which we fade to black and get a scene where anything of interest (fight scenes, romantic development) has already taken place.

If I could give a game a neutral rating, that's what I would do for 7'Scarlet. The production values are obviously high. As an otome game, it hits just the right notes to be passable, but never really sticks out beyond that. The first routes are extremely slow and boring, but the middle two routes are interesting and have pleasant characters. The 'true route' is laughably bad, and the final ending is sad, but lacks the relevance to really pack a punch.

Get this when it's on sale, or when you've exhausted the slew of better otome games available to you. It's certainly fine, but not much more beyond that.

An absolutely amazing follow-up to act I, it matched my expectations and then gave me more.
If you want your heart wrenched in the most painful ways but come out with hope in the end in a historic setting then I can't think of a better game to recommend.

Out of all the games Northernlion got me to buy, this one is the best.

I've been following OELVNs for quite a few years now and try to give everything a shot, but I'm usually quite hesitant to make purchases because a lot is being released and not everything is top quality. Still, I immediately knew I had to get this when I read through a summary and some reviews on this page. Even though the game is quite short, it shows incredible promise.

The writing is great and the setting and history feels extremely interesting and immersive. You can tell the author knows her history and I especially commend the way its presented very naturally with the flow of the story and not heavy-handed for those with no real background in history. I love the huge cast of characters to get involved with and the mechanic of changing routes at any point in the story opens so many avenues for the story to progress I can't help but wonder what's in store. I can't wait for Act II, and I wholeheartedly recommend purchasing the game if you're currently in doubt.

I bought Hustle Cat on sale and I can say I do not regret my purchase, however I don't think I would've paid full price for it. The story is enjoyable enough, I liked the character art and backgrounds, and Avery was a very fun protagonist. However, the story presents itself like there is some big mystery to uncover and that greater overarching story left a lot to be desired. I liked the characters and their progression, the romance parts of each route felt nice, but there was never too much depth to it all. Especially the last route, only unlocked by completing all the others, which was supposed to be more plot-heavy and explain things kind of left a lot out in the open. After finishing the game, I didn't feel like much was resolved.

If you just want to cuddle some cats/humans then pick this game up when there's another sale. Just don't go in expecting too much.
