Good old STALKER, but bigger and better.

Far Cries have melded into one. Tons of content, 75% disappointing, 24% meh, 1% can be called good. Center screen, press lmb. Rinse, repeat for 150 hours. Ubisoft is what mobile casual games are to mobile gaming: pure timekiller, and whether you kill one hour, a hundred hours, or a thousand you will never gain anything in return.
Don't buy unless 99% discounted and you're OK with wasting your time.

Quake in its' entirety is the definitive shooter, and Quake Champions is a well-crafted meld of the necessary and defining elements of the genre. This game has everything the player needs to maximize their connection to the virtual space and mechanics of the game and nothing else; this is training and competition in the purest forms.
Striking the perfect balance between tactics, strategy and reactivity, Quake Champions is one of the very few pinnacles of cybersport. Even the best competitive shooters (CS, Apex, CoD and whatever else), as good and thrilling as they are, are secondary to Quake and to Quake Champions as the current embodiment of this cybergem.

This is a huge game with tons of content and activities; many, many people put their time and effort into making this, and I can only hope that all of them got something good out of their experience. I haven't looked at any figures, but I don't doubt that the game made money for the company at least.

But regretfully this is a game with tons of bland, uninteresting and uninspired content, and the reason for this is quite simple: this game was created not just to entertain (that might not be the highest reason for creating something, but that's a reason good enough in itself), but to entertain as many people as possible while being problematic in any way for as little people as possible. It doesn't contain a single idea worth any discussion (drugs are dangerous? fanaticism is bad? Cap'n Obvious to the rescue!) or surprising, because whoever is putting out something surprising, thought- or discussion-provoking will always be putting themselves at risk of being disagreed with, and that's just so bad for business.

The best that can be said for this game is that this is a huge technical, managerial and creative (and I'm not talking about the head writers and artists, I'm talking about the people that did all the grunt work; the big picture of this game is, again, uninspired) undertaking, and a successful one; it gave people work, and it gave some people significant income (I just hope that these two sets of people aren't too different); I hope it also pushed some boundary for the humanity in general, most likely in a technical area.
Also, if you have a lot of free time and an expensive machine some of the screenshots you can take could be rather pretty.

The worst about it is that it represents the worst in gaming, humanity's newest art form: a complete lack of creativity, soul and personality, and a completely conscious lack. Somebody in charge (maybe a couple of somebodys) was making choices during all of the development of this product that led to this monumental undertaking producing a giant sticky soulless pile of colourful goo.

Игра производит впечатление кучи мини-игр, которые даже особо и не пытались связать воедино, просто раскидали по не очень большому и довольно однообразному "открытому миру".
Сюжет не только глуп, противоречив и полон дыр, но и банально скучен, как, впрочем, и игровой процесс. Поптки смешно пошутить проваливаются в девяти случаях из десяти, только изредка мелькает уместная отсылка к известному фильму.

Всё это довольно обидно, потому что зачатки отличной игры всё ещё виднеются. Некоторые игровые механики, например "суперспособности" и некоторые аспекты боевой системы и арсенала, основаны на интересных задумках.
По сюжету в определённые моменты некоторые персонажи появляются в совершенно обнажённом виде, и "проблемные" места – промежность у всех и грудь у персонажей с соответствующими выпуклостями – зацензурены квадратичным блюром. Мне кажется что в этом отражена вся игра: очень смелые задумки безнадёжно загублены соображениями конформности и пригодности для как можно более широкой публики.
