Tragically, the online servers were shut down in October. It's still playable singleplayer, at least.

Despite this, NFS Rivals is really fun to play. The racers and police are sufficiently challenging to go against, and while I wasn't all that into the combat gadgets when I first started playing, I found it to be enjoyably tense and had to adapt when my target was using a particular tech. Health is also a driving factor in the game's intensity; there's nothing quite like being close to wrecked and trying to find a repair shop without bumping into anything, all the while being chased by cops and flooring the gas.

You can play as both racer and police, which is really rad. I love starting up a pursuit as a cop and watching other patrolling vehicles join in over time.
Free roam is always a pleasure, just driving around and challenging random cars to pursuits or races.

The story is \(〇_o)/ ultimately not that important. Racer wants to race. Cop wants to bust. You're here to drive some cars, aren't you? There are a few missions (1 for racer, 2 for cop) that force you to use a given car, which will make sense if you watch some of the cutscenes, but otherwise you don't really need to know.

Early Access Review
Things I liked - I promote this game because of these things
  • I find the combat highly enjoyable. It can be surprisingly stylish at times, and some of the sounds are especially satisfying to hear. I'm a big fan of "Epic Move (Make your next attack epic)".
  • The jokes are funny and don't come off as extremely cringey, nor do they last too long.
  • There is a local co-op mode if you want to get your friends in on the job, and you don't have to wait to pick abilities one by one; you can choose while your friend is thinking. You can also give each other piggyback rides.
  • The diversity of the three game modes and some one-shot playable cutscenes make sure it's not too repetitive.
  • I liked how some of the fights in Cage Fight were puzzles instead of being "just hit the other guy."

Things that were unfortunate - Not great things that don't harm my enjoyment too much
  • Co-op is restricted to local gameplay only. If you want a friend, you'll have to use Steam Remote Play.
  • As of the moment, the first player is blue and the second player is purple, and they cannot be changed. I played with a friend, and he couldn't differentiate between them as he is colorblind. It was easy to track for the most part, but screen transitions could cause him to lose himself.
  • There aren't many characters to play in the Fulfillment Center, all of them have the same starting passive, and there is only one difficulty, making this mode feel a little repetitive.
  • The Pfiser boss in Cage Fight has an annoying HP regen passive that doesn't make him particularly fun to play against, but is otherwise pretty good as a "fight to the death" boss.

Things I hated - Things that actively hurt my enjoyment of the game
  • Stuns. Currently, many stuns come out with no warning whatsoever. Some enemies can shout while getting attacked, interrupting your moves. Tasers, unlike guns, have no wait period before they are fired, resulting in knockback, stun, and damage. It is also possible to get immediately grabbed by certain enemies when you go up a floor, with no time to react.

Overall, a fun game with silly, stylish, and very satisfying combat. Great to play by yourself or with a friend.

Legendary game

All sorts of weapons from bazookas and grenades, to poking and baseball bats, to banana bombs and flying sheep. There's even more if you can prove your skill in the training/campaign modes.

Would watch worms explode again

Goofy game where you collect artefacts with unknown effects and use them to navigate levels
Levels are completed by sacrificing a number of artefacts to a machine to proceed to the next level

The main mechanic is customizing everything via drawing
You can draw your face, draw your hand, draw your artefacts, and even draw the main menu

Unfortunately I can't say the gameplay is that interesting. You collect objects and turn them in to proceed. There are traps that can kill you, but they're not particularly hard to avoid.

There are no threats chasing you, which you may find either boring or a relief:

Also, there were requests for "active monsters", I don't want to add stuff that punishes you for taking your time drawing stuff. So only traps for now, I might add artefacts that can replace monsters in the next update :)

I dislike the tinnitus sound effect when activating the bombs to the next level or when you use a flashbang artefact.

I don't really have a strong opinion on this. It's not bad, but it's also not very exciting.

Still, it is an okay-ish silly game when you have friends to play it with, so I'd recommend it for a few short play sessions, but it's not something you can get invested in.

Funny little game, has a variety of really creative puzzles. I was initially walled early on because I didn't realize that scribbling persistently on a sign was the answer to one of the puzzles, but after that it went by pretty smoothly.

The jokes weren't embarrassing; they were actually pretty funny. Nothing was drawn out, nor was it mean-spirited.

Great game.

Fun puzzle game, pretty difficult without being too frustrating. Levels aren't particularly wrong, and making two mistakes causes the level to restart, which is fine. New mechanics are added without explicitly telling the player what they are, so you can see what they do. The best way I can describe this game is that it's like Minesweeper with colors.

I have one gripe with this game, however.
"Not all circles are given."

I heavily dislike having incomplete information from a tile. Sometimes you get a tile with two yellow circles, and there are indeed two yellow tiles next to it. But sometimes you'll get a tile with only one yellow circle, and there will still be two tiles next to it. I understand that the idea is that you have to use information from other tiles to figure out which adjacent one is supposed to have the color, but it can feel like trial-and-error in some levels.

Barring those ambiguous levels, the majority of the game is largely enjoyable and the puzzles don't get dull as new mechanics/colors are introduced regularly.

Neat little numbers game where you think about which groups to merge, which islands to use to remove animals, and whether you should be using wolves, lasers, or whatever else to divide or subtract from the count. There's enough variety to make levels interesting, though I admit that I became bored during periods when no new mechanics were added and I pretty much knew what to do already.

One major downside: No undo button. If you make a misstep, then you just have to restart the entire thing and redo every single one of your moves to get back to where you were.

If you've ever played Super Crate Box, then you know that the gameplay is similar in a lot of ways, but with a top-down perspective.
Main gameplay: You get a random weapon every time you pick up a new box, and picking up boxes increases your score. Increasing your score puts new weapons into the pool for future runs. You die in one hit.

Some of the key differences:
- Top down perspective
- Boss fights
- Wider variety of enemies
- You can adjust the music, sound, and screenshake

Notably, in Hard Mode, the enemies actually have altered attacks, which is much appreciated over a simple increase in spawn rate. Some changes I've noticed in Hard Mode:
- Winged fans shoot five shots instead of three
- Bomb dogs fire projectiles when they explode
- Rate of fire from kings greatly increased

This game is enjoyable to play in far longer bursts than in Super Crate Box, and much like it, it's fun for burning a few minutes of free time like an arcade game.

Fun game to play a few minutes at a time.

Large variety of weapons which are incredibly satisfying to use against hordes of enemies, though some are considerably more noisy than others. There aren't any sound options in-game besides toggling music, so you'll have to adjust your computer volume instead.

There are only three enemy types: tiny walking green man, big walking green man, and floating skulls,
Individually, they're not that difficult to kill. The difficulty is primarily in the number of enemies and having to adapt to whatever weapon you grabbed out of the latest box you picked up, whether it be dual pistols, a flamethrower, or the dreaded self-killing disc launcher.

There are also different characters, but they're there just for looks.

Note: This game's speed seems to be tied to your FPS, so it will run extremely fast on modern hardware with high refresh rates. Cap your FPS or set AlternateSyncMethod to 0 in the options.ini file in the game folder to run the game at normal speed.

Enjoyable demo that doesn't particularly rush you into making decisions, which is nice.
My first impression was that it was akin to something like Papers Please, where you verify information and then deal with doppelgangers or let humans go. You can perform menial tasks like stocking shelves, mopping blood, and disposing of corpses.

Any discrepancies shall be met with lethal force

There are certain events that don't always involve customers, and though most doppelgangers can be detected via a direct interaction (customer gives obviously wrong answer, your device says customer craves human flesh), some require you to make use of implied information (customer mentions character so-and-so, you have to use your tools to find out that character so-and-so doesn't exist).

I greatly enjoyed playing with a friend, and I'm looking forward to more complicated scenarios and randomly generated customers in the full release!
