Genuinely one of the worst and most frustrating games i have ever played and finished in my entire life.
The design choices, bosses and the clunky, slippery and unresponsive controls are truly torture and i do not wish this nightmare upon anyone.

Half the time the jump mechanic doesnt even work and gets you killed more often than you would imagine. Additionally to constantly having to fight the awful controls, there are plentiful of times where the game completely bugs out and doesnt let you do what youre trying to do.
For example; reaching a ledge, jumping up after a coop ledge grab or switching path layers, which you are forced to do frequently throughout the entire game.

The fact that this game IS NOT a student project game is BAFFLING.
I have literally played games made by TEENAGERS that are better than this atrocious garbage.

WHOEVER WAS IN CHARGE OF MAKING IT SO THAT YOU CAN DIE DURING A CUTSCENE IN A BOSS FIGHT, AND THAT THE SCREEN SPLITS FOR BOTH PLAYERS INSTEAD OF JUST PANNING OUT- SHOULD BE STERILIZED AND TOSSED IN PRISON BECAUSE THIS GAME'S EXISTENCE IS A CRIME.

pay more to get less
One of the most empty, lifeless and content barren maps i have ever played in an open world survival game. Isle of Siptah is a joke in comparison to the original map, Exiled Lands.

There is little to no endgame content, enemies are severely underleveled and too inconsistent to be tweaked in server settings. The map has literally not a single cave or dungeon except the "Vaults" which is a pathetic excuse for a dungeon. They're boring, short, lacking in challenge and the loot you get for completing them doesn't come close to feel rewarding - besides the Eldarium which you at some point are required to gather if you wish to upgrade your gear.
There is little variety to the few different biomes and the map doesn't even have any interactable NPCs besides a small merchant camp up north which provides almost nothing content related.

What i find ironic is that Exiled Lands is actually slightly larger and yet it is ten times more alive and filled to the brim with different things to see and do, despite the theme of a vast desert.

I could go on for a while but it's pointless.

- Trust me when I say this; it is clear that Funcom made this expansion with much less love and passion and seems to rather just work as filler content - or some extra income.

i love this game for what it was meant to be;
a beautiful work of art and passion.

- Not this sly betrayal to your loyal fans who are the entire reason this game exists at all. Even if the player doesn't care about the few lousy cosmetics they get from the Deluxe Edition or what is included in your overpriced Battle Passes, they're still forced to pay a whopping $50 just to play the game. For an indie game developed by a small team with limited resources and bound to have inevitable flaws, that is absolutely disgusting.

ARK: Survival Evolved has made about $300 million USD in earnings as of 2020, yet the devs are just as lazy as they've always been.

The game still runs like absolute trash SEVEN YEARS later since early access release, even on a beefy pc. The game is also so buggy and clunky that you feel like you're still playing the alpha build. Impressive graphics doesn't equal a good game.

- Just did our first Crystal Wyvern Queen boss run and after biting it once with my own wyvern, it glitched under the map rendering it impossible to kill her and a total waste of time for all of us who had prepared for it all this time.

The devs are so caught up rolling around in their money that they instead put all their resources towards making new maps, dinos and skins rather than actually fixing the game and making it better and more enjoyable to play.

'That is one big pile of sh*t.'

Punished for loyalty

Veteran players have officially been punished upon the "re-release" of MultiVersus.

All of our progress that we've all grinded endlessly for to get our characters to the levels we wanted, are now gone for one simple stupid reason;

To give newer players an easier time by removing everyone's perks

-As if perks were ever the difference between win or loss in this game, LOL.

They also added a bunch of unnecessary new currencies and tabs and it is so overwhelming to look at, especially if you are just coming back to the game, or if you're even a new player.

Oh, and here's the worst part of it all-

THEY REMOVED THE HAND-DRAWN STYLIZED AVATARS FOR ALL CHARACTERS AND SWAPPED THEM WITH UGLY SCREENSHOT PORTRAITS.

W H Y ?

MAKE BACKUPS OF YOUR SAVE FILES.
- lost my 56 hour save, everything wiped due to formatting of PC, and Uplay somehow not having cloud sync for Black Flag, yet it does for AC Revelations, (a couple years older game than Black Flag).

Good job Ubish*t, you did it again.

it deserves better
This game definitely does not deserve the review rating it has.
In my opinion and my friend's who I played through it with, it's a pretty decent roguelike.

- Yes, of course it will get repetitive after a few runs but that is literally what a roguelike is. You play until you die, take something with you for progression until the next run and repeat.

Something that could maybe have been a bit more polished is the combat and the enemy targeting and of course letting the player configure their own keybinds/controller inputs but overall, I don't regret spending this time with Necropolis, though doing it together with a friend probably made it 10x better.

You need to take into account that this game is obviously a low budget game made by a small team and it still does a great job at being a good game anyway. So after reading some of the negative reviews, I see a lot of them being unreasonably negative towards it and I find most of them unfair. -- Not to point any fingers but this one reviewer said "all the rooms feel the same and you just keep looping until you go insane"; which clearly indicates that person hasn't properly played the game or gotten very far. My guess it's probably some guy who is salty about dying over and over, never making it to any of the other biomes.

- Having personally played through the entire game, I can confirm there is at least over a handful of various aesthetics and different themes to the rooms as Dungeon, Temple, Swamp, Frost area, Jungle, Factory and the Final Level. And every time you play, these areas are somewhat different because of the procedural generation (which can be a little flawed at times). Risk of Rain 2 is another example of a BRILLIANT roguelike game executed with near perfection but yet all the levels always have the same layout as the only procedural generation is the placement of chests, portals, enemies, scrappers, printers etc. but you don't see anyone complaining about that do you?

This other reviewer said there were only FIVE different enemy types among a few other nonsense things he said, and the review is indeed very recent as it was posted May 26th 2022 (when the game is fully released and finished).
First off, I can count a lot more than five different enemy types from just the very first level. I'll censor this with a spoiler filter in case you don't want to know; Hollowmen (Brute and Soldier), Nagual, Fade/Changeling, Gemeater, Skeleton, Hoardmen, Screamer, Spiderling, Bandit/Thief Rat and Grine (similar to Red Phantoms from the Souls series) - Then you also have "lesser" monsters like Rat King and three different types of Scrounge. And that's just what you encounter from the starting levels, as there is a total of 24 different types of monsters according to the Necropolis wiki. Not to mention all the different traps as well which is also a fairly long list..

Necropolis might be a tiiiny bit overpriced on Steam but it's still a fairly decent game in my opinion. More people should rather lend it a good pat on the back and give it some praise. Say it did a good job but has plenty room for improvement.

- Great learning curve at the cost of having a slow start; but remains an excellent time waster with tons of content once you get into it.

Just do yourself a favor and not give into any of the annoying micro-transaction offers. There's a lot you can do here without spending a single penny. Thank me later.
