Short but good. You might just end up wasting time building rather than go straight to completing the mission.

Early Access Review
I joined this game fairly early on. I've also spent a fair bit on the game, despite almost all things being obtainable for free. The dev had always prided himself in not adding heavy monetization like other mobile games and getting things for free was achievable in a reasonable time span. Those are important things to me for any game I spend money on.

As of a recent update, this is no longer the case. A heavily monetized gacha system was added to the game.

  1. Rather than use the usual premium currency that can be also be collected for free in the game, the system uses a special currency that is bought only. To prevent cheaters, allegedly. But it seems some cheaters have already hacked bonuses for themselves, even if they can't get the pets server side. Cheaters were never going to pay anyway.

  2. The pity system is bad. The cost increases as pity kicks in and chance of strong companions increases. The result is that you hardly get better odds per money spent plus you get less duplicates overall. That is much worse than any gacha I've ever played.

  3. A guaranteed best companion after 200 pulls was recently added. A paltry fix considering there's only 1 free pull per week. Most gachas would have one or more pull per day, allowing you to pull a guaranteed unit in a reasonable time. For free players, this fix reduce time to get a best companion to 4 years at most, still a longer timeframe than most players will play any single game for.

  4. The bonuses from the new system are large quality of life bonuses that save huge amounts of time/tediousness and give massive increases to gains. Some of the bonuses are much stronger than anything else added to the game so far. It is implied that these companions will go away in the future as new ones are added and rotation is changed, adding a FOMO element and reducing the amount of pulls free players can put toward any specific companion.

  5. A complete dismissal of his userbase. After drawing in players by being a friendly solo dev with a not heavily monetized game, and doing a 180 on said monetization, the dev had little to say but praise himself. Sure the game is fun, but that is not the issue. The issue is that even by gacha standards, the companion system is very bad. No apologies for that and going back on his claims of no heavy monetization like certain corporate mobile games, no fix to something more reasonable, no reassurance that from now on new content won't get locked behind large cash payments. No dispute that it will bring him a lot of money from a more limited segment of his userbase, and perhaps make the game more active depending on how he spends the money on marketing, but that is a predatory monetization practice which he prided himself in not doing. After two weeks of silence, here's what he had to say on his discord about the criticism: https://imgur.com/a/uCerXGP

I've seen many long term players that have been here since for 2+ years quit. Other than praising yourself being in poor taste in general, it seems more and more clear from past events he cannot acknowledge criticism as warranted, and will dismiss major complaints as haters. He prided himself as a solo dev as going against the pay to win that proliferate in the mobile industry, well he's clearly ditching his old dedicated userbase he built around that and going more commercial, except he still won't hire staff and insists on remaining a solo dev despite poor customer support time among other issues. If he had apologized for going more commercial, fixed the companion system so it's more in line with a standard gacha, and claimed the purpose was to hire staff so he can focus more on the game design/features instead of support/coding, that might have passed as more reasonable. This dev needs to eat some humble pie.

It's free, there's content, it's idle. What is there to complain about?

Simply the best non turn-based roguelike I've ever played.

Simply one of the best survival games out there.

Challenging, well balanced and with a ton of crafts and things to discover.

10/10 Would grind again

It's grindy and there's not too many areas or items. But for the few items there is, a good amount is various potions (19) and magic scrolls (32) with all sort of effects that are pretty balanced overall. Makes for fun PvP.
