DISCLAIMER: Review written a few weeks after release of the engine and UI update.

I will start with the negative, because I have to rate my review negative because of this.
It's the UI.. absolute utter trash. Hunt: Showdown always had a bad UI, but they somehow went and made it WORSE, which is an accomplishment in itself. First I got my hopes up to learn, that they completely redo the UI for the engine update, thus acknowledging that the old one was beyond salvation.. and then the update happened and my degree in Media Technology gets put to a test. I really hope they take a huge step back and look and what went wrong. I will not list my complaints about the non-intuivity of the new UI as there are just too much of them. I have a professional background in designing and understanding UIs and I struggle sometimes to navigate this bottomless ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of an UI. So i can see why it would hold people back to even play the game, when getting a lobby up and running (inviting friends, equipping loadout etc.) is just frustrating.

As for the playability:
Yes, atm there are a lot of bugs that crash the game or make the experience bad. But here I trust the devs that it will get fixed.

The core-game in itself is awesome. Different Loadouts highlight different playstyles. You can goof around pushing like a monkey or go balls deep full-sweat bush-camping and both playstyles are viable to name an example.

The new update won't stop me from playing, because I'm still having fun, but the adressed issues above may hinder my long-term commitment.

So please, Crytek, listen to your customers and re-evaluate the UI design, but only AFTER you fixed performance issues.

Artwork, Soundtrack, Gameplay, Story = 10/10.
This game surpasses many AAA titles by a large margin. Must-buy for every gamer.

- Tolle Story & Charaktere
