Spiritfarer is a cozy management game about friendship and death.

You play as Stella, the new spiritfarer tasked with helping spirits to the Everdoor in order to release them into the afterlife by bringing them on your boat. Along the way, you must be at their service; caring for them, fulfilling their last requests, and preparing them for their end.

I completed this game in about 30 hours, but it could take more or less time depending on how "complete" your playthrough is. On my first playthrough, I hadn't completed most of the side quests (known as "shenanigans" in-game) and I failed to meet and bring aboard 2 spirits, so I could've spent more time on the game.

On my second playthrough, I was able to complete all achievements and release all releasable spirits into the everdoor. This playthrough took roughly 40 hours.

Gameplay wise it's ok, it’s quite fun. If you’re the type of person who finds collecting resources in video games relaxing, then it’s just for you. If you enjoy platforming, then you’ll find it enjoyable, although quite simplistic.

There are many minigames you have to complete in order to obtain certain resources that incorporate platforming and timing. Some of the minigames can get boring after a while, but the wide variety of them keeps the experience fresh.

The animation and art style is absolutely delicious and the soundtrack is on another level. Man, the soundtrack. They both contribute greatly to the beautiful, calming aesthetic of the game. I've gotten emotional just by the music and visuals alone.

Each spirit you bring aboard has their own personality, preferences, and backstories, the latter of which you catch glimpses of by listening to them talk about their past life. With the game's colorful cast of characters, you'll never get bored of befriending new spirits.

My favorite spirit was Stanley, 'cause he's adorable. He reminds me of me when I was younger. He felt like the younger brother that I never had but always wished to have (I'm the youngest in my fam). I cried like a little ♥♥♥♥♥ when it was time to see him off.

Eventually, all your spirit friends you've brought onboard and cared for along this wild spirit world ride will have had enough and be ready to move on. After all this time caring for them, listening to their worries, fulfilling their requests, you'll no doubt feel an attachment to each of your spirit friends, at least to some degree. At this point, not only do they have to be ready to let go, but you do too. Some of the most tear jerking moments are during the final boat trips to the Everdoor, listening to their last words to you. They share insights into what they've learned from their past life and what they've learned from their time with you. I will never forget some of the things they said.

"But I've loved you, and that won't stop even if I'm not around anymore. The ones who really love you never really leave you, you know?"

Spiritfarer sends a beautiful message about the value of life and death, of great importance in times like these. If you like heartwarming bitter-sweet experiences, then I highly recommend this as my favorite game of 2020.

The concept is very simple: you're a humanoid voxel blob with cardboard taped to your arms and you're tasked with gliding around a procedurally generated world (made of the same voxels) and string build gamer combos.

It's one of those games that are easy to learn and hard to master. It takes a while to get used to how wind propels and pushes you in order to fly effectively.

But those moments when you're building insane combos, barely missing the colorful canyons surrounding you, and the wind is hitting you in just the right way to keep on, are all enough to make this game a must try.

Early Access Review
An epic, action packed game where you play as a human mind (many, rather) trapped inside a robot body, slicing, shooting, kicking and fire-breathing his way through a wide variety of enemy robots. A hella fun experience for all!

Edit: The new "dash" feature was a really great addition in my opinion, it really added variety to my play style.
I am also experiencing some lag spikes in the new update, not sure if that was always a problem. I suggest adding advanced graphic settings to be able to optimize performance (Like being able to disable bloom and disable screen shake etc.)
