This game is missing some quality of life features such as multiple save slots, a convenient way to switch characters between stages, and double tapping a direction to dash. I can see why some are inconvenienced by this, especially fans of the Mega Man X titles this game took inspiration from, but I personally wasn't bothered. Starting from the beginning requires you to erase your save via the options menu (which doesn't affect achievement progress, don't worry), but the game is short enough to be beaten in an hour or two, so I never found myself hurting for more than one save file.

You can switch between Reisen and Seiran by going to Survival Mode, picking the one you want, exiting and then going back to Story Mode, which is a little unorthodox, yes, but it works. As for the issue of no double tap dashing, again, I can see why a Mega Man X fan would be bothered, but I was not because I didn't play those games enough to grow accustomed to the mechanic, so I didn't notice its absence; using the shift key was fine for me.

These complaints are valid, but they have simple workarounds in my opinion. However, it would be nice if the developer could fix them in a future patch or in the upcoming sequel, at least.

As for game balance, some are too quick to conclude that this game is unfair when they have less than an hour of playtime. It is challenging, yes, but not unfair. If you're having a lot of trouble, start with Easy mode and work your way up to higher difficulty settings. Watching speedruns of the game also helped me understand what I was doing wrong and improve to the point that obstacles and bosses I once thought were tedious are easy to get past now. A decent amount of complaints about its balance are either a result of impatience or bad positioning.

The only boss I have a complaint about is the final one, but only on Lunatic mode. They have attacks where you have to leap to dodge their bullets, and they can follow up with a screen-wide attack when you're inches from touching the ground, meaning you can't jump again to avoid it. It's incredibly frustrating, especially if you're going for their no-hit achievement.

Overall, this game is a fun challenge, and the better you get at it, the more rewarding it feels to play. Seija's stage in particular is one I hated when I started, but eventually became my favorite because it's fun to deathbomb on top of the spikes and dash through them that way.

Looking forward to the sequel!
