Game has a custom difficulty but if you whine enough the devs will make every difficulty mode easier so you can get your participation trophy. Right now the Hardcore mode is about as difficult as Recommended used to be so if you do buy this game make sure to take the training wheels off and set the difficulty higher right off the bat.

Why can't I recommend this game anymore? Well there's no way to change your difficulty mode mid game, so when the devs continue to listen to the whiners and make the game easier once again, the difficulty cannot be modified (unless you whine to the devs enough) unless you completely restart.

Why did they make the game easier when they have a literal custom difficulty mode? Well a certain population of people on the Steam forums decided that their elite gamer skills weren't good enough for Recommended settings, so instead of doing the logical thing and turning down the difficulty they felt offended at not being able to complete the game on Recommended and complained incessantly.

Was the review score bad? No actually, the review score was higher before the update that made the game "better".
So why did the devs feel the need to change it? I have absolutely no idea.

Why oh why does this game need a separate launcher... When I bought it originally it didn't have a seperate launcher, so why now?

Game is slightly more entertaining then watching paint drying. Truly no idea why this game is so recommended, the game play is about as complex as an auto-clicker but without the auto part and roughly the same depth as a splash pad at a local park. If your choice is spider solitaire or this game, go play solitaire...trust me.

Imagine going into a retail store and then complaining that everything is too expensive, that's why this game has so many negative reviews, because people login, see the cash shop and go "I not only refuse to give you money but I'm also going to whine and complain about you attempting to monetise your hard work!"

Do you need to buy any of the MTX? Nope. I'm 40 hours in and I haven't even been tempted to spend any money, sure there's a shop but I don't really want any of the stuff in it to be honest.

Now, the real question that should be asked is if this is any good compared to the original UWO? The answer is yes, if you liked old UWO you'll also like new UWO. My main piece of advice to new players is just ignore the cash shop, it's only for impatient people anyways.

EDIT: Ok so after chatting with a few people about my issues it seems like the problem I'm having is I didn't realise that this wasn't actually an auto-battler. I guess I'm actually supposed to manually control my gladiators initially because reasons. One of those rare instances when you expected an auto-battler but ended up getting a fake one...go figure.

I've put over 7 hours into this 'game' which coincidentally is more hours then a fair number of these positive reviews. I always find it interesting when I see a positive review from like a month ago and the person only has like 0.2 hours logged into the game. Maybe a few paid reviews from the dev team maybe?

I really tried to like this game but it's just designed in a very specific way and they didn't bother added in multiple difficulties to cater to different play styles. This game feels like it's designed for a more casual player but ends up requiring a lot of patience due to a slightly unfair difficulty curve in the beginning. My advice for any casual gamers looking for a fun god game to look elsewhere, TABS, UEBS or even Rimworld are better alternatives.

It's Euro Truck Sim but with a boat.

This game might be good, I honestly don't know because it's like pulling teeth to try to login. This secondary password thing is just an annoying redundancy that's just another hoop you need to jump through to login.
