Objectively the best game I've ever bought. It might be expensive with every DLC but, as many others have said, it's absolutely worth it. You're getting way more than you've paid for.

You want to play as goody-two-shoes ranchers? You can. Want to roleplay a cannibal, genetically and cybernetically augmented samurai dynasty? Go for it. Maybe you want to play as puritan slave runners? This game has got you covered.

You can engage with absolutely every element of the game (building a robot army, ranching, selling drugs, raiding, containing demons from outer dimension, cyborgs, gene-tailoring, warhammer psy magic, etc.) at the same time, or focus on something particular and build your colony around one-two aspects.

This game is truly endless. It took me over 1000 hours to beat it for the first time (don't look at my steam hours - I've played the game on GOG before buying a second copy on steam), and even then I only got one of 4 endings.

If you can't afford or don't want to buy all DLCs, at least buy Biotech, as it adds the most content.

Another huge perk of this game is its mod-friendliness. Now don't got downloading hundreds of mods right off the bat. Play at least two-three times before getting into modding.

I've played the first entry over a year ago and enjoyed it a lot. It certainly does lack the polish of a AAA game, but it is a mod, after all, so I can't complain. And for a mod it's an absolute banger.

Sadly I just recently got to downloading this sequel. I went in with low expectations, without watching any reviews or anything of that sort, and I must say: damn, I was blown out of the water. This GAME - not a mod(!) - an actual GAME is absolutely amazing, astounding- there are not enough positive epithets for me to describe this masterpiece.

Somehow it improves on basic Half-Life 2 gameplay, sort of like MMOD does. Squad control is improved, overwatch soldiers are actually competent. Novel weapons like xen grenades and trip mines are very useful.
Oh, and the SOUNDTRACK! In my opinion a soundtrack is one of the most important part of a good game. And this game's soundtrack is beautiful and it captures that Kelly Bailey style perfectly.

I can continue describing this game's positives forever, so let's get down to some cons(that are quite insignificant, when compared to pros):
-The plot is, I would say, kind of contrived, being more personal, than "common-goal oriented" like in Half-Life 2, but I still found it very satisfying.
-Some battles are just overwhelmingly massive, sort of like the White Fores battle in Episode 2, except you get waves two times the size dumped on you. I wouldn't say it makes the game extremely difficult, but it does get kind of messy.
-The Bad Cop talks A LOT. This may be a problem for some, but, tbh, I found his monologues and dialogues quite enjoyable, so this is a pro for me.

Overall: Amazing gameplay, good plot that ties into Episode 2 nicely, beautiful soundtrack, impressive voice-acting, considerable enemy variety.

I STILL CAN'T BELIEVE THAT HUNT DOWN THE FREEMAN COSTS MONEY, WHILE THIS GAME IS FREE.
