Before you play and start panicking about the resolution and sudden black screening in game, here is my experience.
The Main Menu runs at a fix 800x600 window, you cannot change this resolution. When you change the resolution settings in Video, you will be altering the resolution the actual game runs at. So when you start an Instant Action match for example, the game will switch to a 1920x1080 resolution. I personally play this game in windowed mode. To do this, right click the game in your Steam Library, then type in the Launch Options: "/win" That command will keep everything in windowed mode for you if you don't mind it.

Additionally, if you experience random black screens when you start your game, DISABLE THE DISCORD OVERLAY. This is one of the first games I've seen this in, and discord likes to automatically hamfist its overlay into a lot of games. So, just disable the overlay in discord for this specific game and you should be fine.

Reasons why I recommend Classic Battlefront 2:
1: it's very fun
2: this game has an insane modding scene with hundreds of custom maps and modpacks. All of which are pretty damn easy to setup and install right away.
3: not only is there a variety of mods, but THERE ARE PLAYABLE SERVERS, and people will join these servers I promise you that.
4: HOLY HELL YOU CAN HOST YOUR OWN SERVERS?? Yeah apparently. First you gotta setup a GameSpy account. Don't worry, it actually doesn't take much at all. Choose a username, email, password, you'll be able to do all this in the main menu as well. You won't have to confirm anything to do this, just make sure you remember your login info lmao. Once you do that you can join servers online. Then to host your own server, go to the online settings and increase Hosting Bandwidth to its maximum setting. As long as you and your friends have a stable internet connection, you guys will be playing Battlefront 2 (2005) in your own private setup.
5: YOUR OWN SERVERS ALSO WORK FOR MODS BY THE WAY Long as you and your pals got the same maps and such, you'll be able to play any map you want. Even The Homer Zone (yes this is a real map I promise you, look it up on ModDB)

Seriously, if this game even goes for super cheap you should snag it. Honestly even $10 is a solid asking price right now- WATCH THOSE WRIST ROCKETS

I knew something felt a little off with blaster fire on this game... I pretty much exclusively played the default trooper in all factions. Never had bad experience with my hit reg until I was playing this. It's... weird? Majority of the time my fire doesn't register and I feel like I have to lead my shots so far on enemies.

Multiplayer experience just feels a little unresponsive, and if the server locks up trying to connect to other players, leave that server and join a different one.

I can see myself playing the stuff offline, maybe play private servers with friends and hope the lag gets fixed... but so far yeah I'm kinda wishing I only paid like $18 instead of $28 from the "loyalty" sale...

I'd like to see the servers fixed, but most importantly, please fix the loading screen sound effect... The Battlefront 1 loading screen, victory jingles in Battlefront 2, and the R2D2 sound for completing and objective in campaign sounds so off for some reason. I... can't explain it.

I really want to change this review...

A very neat and clever little demo with the kind of writing that I have missed. Something like this will always make me hopeful, but in the end I've come to expect the 'games' that Valve makes from now on will be tech demos to show off the hardware they put much more of their attention into.
It's just a shame that someone like me who wants to stick to their PC as my way of playing games will likely miss out on a lot of things because of Valve's different approach to gaming. But, I will still appreciate the fact that with an Xbox controller I was able to play this for a little while and smile for a little bit while doing so.

Psychonauts 1 and 2 are games that are very special to me. This one went above and beyond to deliver a fantastic sequel that felt so fresh and so familiar at the same time.

For returning players, this game remains faithful to what you experienced before with the original characters being just the same as they were before. And you're actually not set back too much as far as your powers go. Most of what you had in the previous game are granted to you very quickly in this one.

For the new players, you get caught up to speed pretty quickly in a fun and entertaining catch-up video. Though I will admit when I first played Psychonauts 1, plenty of concepts went over my head and it took a little while for me to get the hang of this strange world.

Now this is for ALL types of players. This game has many important things it wants to teach you about loss, healing, and mental health in general. It illustrates so many ideas in brilliant ways that make them thought provoking concepts. I think this game has many subtleties that deserve to be recognized as the profound ideas they are. Throughout the whole game though, I was invested in the mystery and the adventure. I was caught off guard by twists and I laughed the whole time.

For the completionists out there, this game is actually very easy to get 100% achievements for. Even some of the grinding ones took only a few minutes with the right upgrades (pins in the Otto-Shop). There are no ridiculous challenges that would take hours of practice and grinding and [NOT REALLY A SPOILER BUT IF YOU WANT TO BE SURPRISED AT THE END OF THE MAIN GAME] Once you watch the final cutscene and finish the credits, you will be rewarded with a filter for the photo mode that reveals collectible objects which helps on return trips to the minds you visited before to do some cleanup. This will also work outside of minds and helps you find PSI challenge cards and markers.

I personally am looking forward to what will happen in about 2 months. Cause I know for a fact that I am going to start a new save then, just to experience the whole game again. It's that good.

The only other thing that I can say is: This game should've actually won more awards instead of just being nominated for them.

"Super fun game and makes me laugh almost every day! You never know whether you'll enter a server of friendlies or if you're in it to win each round!"

- A review I made on April 2, 2016.

It's incredible how this game has remained relevant in a manner of both its gameplay and the community. Team Fortress 2 deserves better, and there's too many people passionate about the game for it to just be left in the dust on Valve's shelves.

We want this game fixed and playable. I want to change this review, but the message has to be heard. Team Fortress 2 is something way more special than you may give it credit for. It deserves better.

Now October 21 of the same year. Things have turned around. Bots are infrequent in the playtime I've logged recently. The best updates this game will get these days though is cosmetics and weapon skins every Halloween, Summer, and Christmas. The time of End of the Line, Invasion, Saxxy Awards, Pyromania, etc. are all gone. Why they don't utilize the contract system more baffles me. But the community will never stop adoring this game. I don't think anything can change that. While I wish there was more done with the game these days, I'm not going to remain cynical on it. Lobbies are still full, and it is still so damn fun. Come sit down and have a bite of sandvich. We're all still here having fun despite everything.
