Introduction / Background Information on my Purchase.
This game is absolutely amazing! I was hesitant to buy during the steam sale over the bad reviews I saw online. However, I was just after finishing FFXV at the time, and FFVII and FFVIII were fond games for me during my childhood -- so I was eager to dig deeper into the series once more. So, I bought the triology anyways.

Meat of my Review
Now, I'm only about 13 hours into the first game. I will admit the game was a bit slow for the first hour, but understandably. The game swoops you in gradually to ensure you don't get swamped by the increasing complexity of the combat system. The combat system is the old school final fantasy battle-system, however you do get used to it's antique appearance.

As for the story, make sure to follow along and do not skip the scenes! I'm playing this game as if it were a movie mixed with a video game as there's so many scenic cutscenes. I found following the story helped build my bond with the characters and pull me further into the game's plot.

If you ever get confused about the story, just check your datalogue in the menu. You tend to get thrown around in the story -- and it certainly is not chronological with many cutscenes going back along the thirthteen days after they awoke. So ensure you stay ontop of the story and don't be afraid to do a bit of reading!

So yeah! It's a fairly sweet game. The graphics are incredible at 4k and the story pulls you in deep, which many modern games fail to do. As so many modern games focus on their gameplay mechanics in my opinion.

My RX 580's Performance.
I was actually intrigued that my RX 580 managed to play this game at 4k. However, I had to set my MSAA to 8x, and shadows to 2k, so if you have a RX 580, take note. I manage to get 60fps stable with these settings, make note if you dip below 60fps, your game autolocks to 30fps, so stay weary if you have a lower performance card!

Controller vs Mouse and Keyboard
I played the first hour of the game with a keyboard, but opted out for a cheap controller I had stored away in my desk for years -- and let me just tell you, the entire game experience was enchanced by this foreign plastic contraption!

In my opinion, I feel the control of the game favours controllers, also seeming the combat can get fairly intense. The controller makes the combat way easier as all the buttons are accessible, I feel like it'd be manageable, yet more difficult to scale across a keyboard to click buttons rapidly as you're are getting wrecked by a woodwraith.

Setting up my controller required vJoy and UJR, however this is a review, so I'll sway away from making this review any longer. :/

Anyways this game is 10/10, and officially Morghayn approved.
