If Sacred 2 wasn't your thing before, this likely won't change your mind. If you're an old fan of the series (1 and 2 at least), or you like this genre and wanna see some of the deeper cuts from it, this might be what you're looking for. Sacred 2 did some neat things back in the day, and could even be considered ahead of it's time in some ways when it was new. AoE loot pickup with a hotkey is so cool! It also seems to have the same quests, cutscenes, dialog, and story from before, the game even warns you on launch that some of the dated humor might not always be appreciated.

This is not the type of remaster that "remakes" assets with a modern game engine to bring an old classic up to new standards. This is more in line with the kind of remaster that makes it play a little nicer with modern PC's, adds some more modern input (controller input is surprisingly comfy, coming from someone preferring K+M), and touches up the already existing graphics.

The UI is probably the biggest change here on the frontend, it's a bit more modern and switches between K+M/controller easily! The graphics aren't that much different than the original, though there are some tweaks and higher res textures! This isn't a deck verified game, but after installing it onto my Steamdeck it does just kinda work! I just walked around a bit, not exactly thoroughly tested or anything, but it's a good start!

Local LAN is gone, there are some fewer weapon/spell slots (not that I ever used all the weapon slots before), and the new UI layers on some NEW jank over the existing old jank. Layered jank, delicious.
I really hope the devs gives us some bug fix updates because some of the UI and initial impressions are a bit rough.

I've only played about 5 hours by now, so this isn't a deep examination of what they've done here, but after getting through the first rough hour or two, I started to forget I was 'evaluating' a new release and just... played Sacred 2. Jank and all.

A goofy old action RPG that doesn't take itself too seriously. The game play can be a bit clunky but it's overall a fun experience! Got ~40 hours of play time doing the campaigns and the sidequests in them.
Getting it to play nice with modern operating systems is a bit of a hassle but doable. It's just not pretty to look at.

Early Access Review
Countless hours of silly fun. Most of the time i find myself making rediculous ships and seeing what they can do rather than seriously trying to get to other planets.
