- Not worth the price.
- Patches comes slowly and aren't fixing much.
- Basic QoL were and still are neglected even tho, there are multiple request for them on forums.
- "diverse" civilizations, where it comes only to some economic gimmicks. Everyone will use Mongols as the example, but in fact, they are only civ that has multiple features that even can make it somewhat unique
- Balance is off
- 0 mod support
- Map editor still in "Coming Soon"
- Campaign in most missions is on levels of Age of Empires 2 William Wallace, but narrated by dull sudo-documentary voice, telling you to do stuff. There is no voice overs - no Great Khan, no La Hire, nothing but one narrator telling you stuff that you would hear in... tutorial missions.
- Multiple bugs at release and probably still existing
- Player count on steam already dropped to the half of the level of Age of Empires 2 DE.

Early Access Review
=== Episode 1 review ===

Well just for starters, I had like 9 hours in this game, till I finished its FPS episode 1 part. Yea, because Nightmare Reaper should be treated as two component (even three, if we consider hub as other game, from first person walking simulator genre) game - FPS and platformer. FPS one have random generated maps, platformer is predefined one.

Yea, I get it, platformer component of it is still wonky (not as wonky as before, you can see that developer put heart in this game, updating and fixing the bugs), graphics in some cases looks just awful (worst offender for me was the water shaders, especially waterfalls). But, shooting feels great, ammo mechanic as well as rng is done perfectly. Enemy progression as well as difficulty is fine. Levels are created from simple roster of elements, but does not feel like so (especially considering many mechanics thrown into the mix). Also weapons. They're many and most of them feels like they have place in the game (worst offender here is knife though).

Story and implementation of it feels so natural. Everything have place in it - mental hospital. And this game can be disturbing. And sound design of this game is so great. It gives clues where you need ones. Weapons feels punchy. Music? To be honest, I feel that Andrew Hulshult is overrated. Is bad composer? No, his music is great, especially if you are into modern metal and in most cases it fits. title. But I'm not, so that's why I prefered to play Dusk with Bathory debut cranked up to 11, and this game with other music aswell. But from I heard, it fits nicely this game aswell, and overall sound design is great. And you will hear Hulshult again in next big oldschool FPS.

With current flood of 90's inspired era FPS, it's one of the best, amongst Ion Maiden (I don't care about popular NWOBHM apologetics), Dusk and Amid Evil and it can be even better.

Pros:
- Great roster of weapon, considering also its randomization.
- Many different enviroments.
- Updated platformer component does not feel bad as it felt before.
- Replayability.
- Enemies feels different one from another. They have different behaviours, attack types.
- Minimap.
- Sound design
- Overall story and implementation of it

Cons:
- Descent... give me a break, it looks kinda bad, it's too platformer heavy.
- Some awful parts of visual design
- Lack of mod support
- Lack of editor

--- verdict ---
8 tri-grenade launchers ouf of ten

Waiting for more.
