What doest thou here,

The vessel of the spirit of the spark?

The deification of the child of man is salvation.

The mind is its own place.

I am Gabriel.

This is one of those game you would feel sad after finishing it. Because you enjoyed playing the game so much, because you want to spend more time with the characters, explore and know more about the world. Above all, you can only experience this game fresh for once, and you already did.

The exploration phase of this game is a bliss. You go in an area blind and make your footsteps into the world; encountering various monsters, characters, and curios. You slowly map out each areas while feeling more attached to the world. Some events here and there spur you on but you don't know the full story, you simply are having a good time exploring a world with areas ranging from desolate to cheerful, from disgusting to peaceful. Then suddenly you reach a point in the story where things become more spectacular. You vaguely know your character is not just a wanderer. You start to pay more attention to the narrative (or the little hints you get from the environment/item description) and the story picks up the pace. Events start to unfold and this realisation about the whole journey will hit. This is one of those moments which you want to relive but cannot outside of the first playthrough. Before you get a real sense of what is truly happening, you 'finish' the game for the first time.

Then, you are eager to get the other endings and learn more about what is actually going on in the story. You dig deeper and prepare to dive into the game more. But this time you do so with a different mindset; with a sense of direction maybe, to actually 'complete' the game. You find out more about everything, and when you do, the whole picture becomes clearer and clearer. Another major plot point comes and hits you no lighter than the first one; you would say to yourself, this is such a great game, I will remember this moment for a long time to come. Then you dig deeper, and there is more. Eventually you will completely finish the main game, dazed by the intricacy and magnificence of the whole journey. The main game ends on a high note where it seems all event leads to the ultimate confrontation and you are the centre piece. The satisfaction and solitude you feel during the credit roll is nothing but dramatic. All the memorable moments, encounters that you sweat, major plot points that touched you; you weigh them in and is glad you have played this game.

Later, you will realise there are actually some DLCs in this game. You head right back in and experience a change of pace. The content is as cool as if not cooler than the main game; though the plot is less moving and impressive. It lets you relive some of those glorious moments in the plot and you are remarkably entertained. Until it hits a point where you will see something you didn't know you want to or can see. It adds another layer on top of the greatness of the main game, albeit just a thin layer. But you are animated to see them because at this point you already loved this game so much. As you willingly tried so hard to complete the DLC contents, resolution comes at last and you can satisfyingly conclude this is one of the best experience. That is this game for you.

Some time later you will run into a youtube video about this game, or an in game soundtrack playing somewhere, or steam sale, or a friend talking about it. You will remember how gorgeous this game is and you will be happy that you have played it, while cursing your memory for not allowing you to play it fresh once again.

TL;DR, it's a great game, just don't call it souls-like.
