You know exactly why you're buying this.
If you haven't got it yet. It may perhaps be the best purchase you've made today.

Now stop asking for other people's opinion and create a mind of your own! Your opinion doesn't matter, neither does mine, and neither does this review. Just buy the game already. You've been ogling at it, contemplating it. Just get it or not. It's that simple.

I remember the days where the Orange Box came out. A bundle that changed many many lives.
Then in 2012. CS:GO was released. It was rough at the beginning, the stakes were higher. Massive E-sports events, millions of dollars. The introduction of the 'weapon finishes'. This was PEAK Valve Software.

Now, it seems like they hired someone from Activision Blizzard, who had the BRILLIANT idea of slapping a 2 on their original Overwatch game; and therefore signed it's downfall, where potentially thousands of players have quit playing all-together.

We're trapped. There is no CS:GO (apart from some kind of weird backward compatibility beta update feature option....), Global Offensive had a 'somewhat healthy' community server economy (only they hid that behind some menu button that wasn't visible from the main screen, like it was in Counter-Strike:Source.

THEN... Source 2.

I get it, it's a new engine. New engines will always have a lot of rough edges that requires polishing. The Anti-Cheat system alike; it is however, no excuse for the state of the current game.
I haven't touched CS:2 since its early launch. Now we are nearly on it's 1 year "anniversary", and as long as corporate greed precedes building a functional game.

I'd love to recommend this game. Spending countless hours for many many years. Counter-Strike has played a large role in my life, amongst other games. But as long as the cheater problem isn't resolved, and have to rely on 3rd party software (and by proxy, community,) it simply is not worth it.

And I haven't even mentioned performance.
A half decent 2015 PC was still able to play CS:GO, but my 2021 PC has trouble keeping up on even the lowest settings.

One day I'll install this game again and hope for a better experience. Until then, I recommend to go touch grass before considering playing this game.

Valve, please fix.
