Early Access Review
Loving this game! Definitely recommended if you're into games like Valheim and Diablo or if you're a fan of vampire lore and gothic aesthetics in general.

Ron, Dave and all involved - you made an absolutely stunning and beautiful adventure game that fits right in with the original Monkey Island series without skipping a beat.
It was a real pleasure to play this one, thank you for making this! And the little gift at the end was really heartwarming to read.

To fans of the old Monkey Island games, you will love this one. To new fans, maybe this game will inspire you to pick up the other titles in the series.

All in all, a truly great game!

Beautiful game, loaded with metaphors. The creepy yet compelling art and cinematic style make this a very unique and, at time, terrifying experience.

Absolutely stunning game!! If you're a fan of Ori and the Blind Forest you will love this one. The aesthetics, theme, style, and music are very very similar but the gameplay is far more focused on combat than platforming.

Things I liked about the game:

- Absolutely stunning visuals, sound and music
- Sound Design is incredibly good (audio matches the environment you're in and makes it very immersive)
- Very original art style, characters and story
- LOTS of content, a hell of a lot of content. It took me roughly 23 hrs to finish the main game and 10+ hrs to complete it fully and get all possible endings.
- Well worth the price tag
- Multiple beautifully crafted environments with their own unique themes
- TONS of interesting and unique boss fights with multiple options of how to approach each fight
- Lots and lots of secrets and hidden content that if found is very rewarding
- Game is very challenging at times, but not so much to the point where it's punishing
- Unique and memorable characters
- Smooth gameplay, polished controls, minimal glitches/bugs, overall a super well optimised game
- Supports 144Hz refresh rate

Things I disliked about the game:

- The death mechanic in this game can very punishing as you need to return to the place you were killed in order to get your ingame money back (used for buying items to progress as well as character/weapon upgrades), this is especially frustrating if you die in a particularly far away location from your last checkpoint.

- The story is very complex, abstract and layered at first glance, at times can be a little hard to follow what is going on and what you're meant to be doing. Although this is more of a personal gripe, some people may like the way they made it. I personally found it all very confusing and hard to follow or understand fully.

- Some of the exploration relies on uncovering essentially 'secret' areas to progress. Although this adds a rewarding feeling for discovering an entirely new area that you first thought was just a small secret, it can be a little frustrating when you get stuck in the game only to realise you missed an ENTIRE section because it was so well hidden (ie The Hive, and Kingdom's Edge). Although then again, with the internet what it is today, I highly recommend bookmarking this game's wiki for guidance.

- I know they went for a very free-roam approach with this game, but it would be nice if the game would have more of a progression, or at least some form of guidance on what you should be doing next, in terms of events that unfold rather than relying on the player to happen across everything. It's easy to miss things.

Overall, the negative aspects of the game are really more down to personal preferance and brutally honest nitpicking based on my personal experience. The positives of this game completely outweigh any shortcomings it may have, it's a phenomenally good game.
