After playing the game for a little while, I figured it is a good time to write a review about one of my absolute favorite games and why I love it so much :)

Overview
Final Fantasy XIV - A Realm Reborn is a tab-targeting Theme Park styled MMORPG developed by Creative Unit 3 and publishes by Square Enix and is the follow up to Final Fantasy XI and Final Fantasy XIV 1.0.
So far the game is out since 10years, so you can expect a sheer endless amount of things to do. Beside the main game A Realm Reborn, the game got 4 Expansions so far with the 5th one following next Summer.

Gameplay/Jobs(classes)
To start off, one thing that makes FFXIV special is that you can play every single Job on the same character, and switch jobs by switching your weapon, which is a very quick process thanks to the ability, to save gear sets. This is one aspect I really love personally.
Final Fantasy XIV is played with tab-target combat system. It may starts of a bit slow, but develops over time, once you get more and more skills you can weave them together and it becomes a very fluid, dynamic fighting system.
The game currently has 20 different Jobs to offer sorted into Tanks, Healers, Melee DPS, Physical Range DPS and Magical Range DPS.
Not all Jobs are available from the start thou, and unlock once you reach later expansions. But don’t worry, the selection is still enormous, there is the right role for everyone.

Crafting
Crafting in FFXIV works like the combat jobs. Each crafter is its own Job with skills and ranks. Tons of recipes to unlock and is viable at the end game. If you want to play the game as an economy simulation, and only craft and gather, you can absolutely do it and have a good time. The whole crafting and gathering systems are an integral part of the game.

Story
FFXIV takes the approach of a “chosen one” story telling. You are the main hero of the Story, the Warrior of Light. I’m honest thou, to describe the Story of the game within a review is impossible. With the current expansion Endwalker, the story that started in ARR 10 years ago finally concluded. Just believe me, its one of the best Story lines you will ever play through.
The Story starts slow in the main game, but please give it time, everything is building up on each other, and you won’t regret watching all the Main Story cutscenes and read through the dialogues. You will not regret it, I promise! Sure, it has its ups and down, but especially the last and recent expansion, Shadowbringers and Endwalker have Stories that you could put in a separate game and sell on their own. I wish I could forget them just to experience them again.
The Story is one of the aspects that stands out from other MMORPG’s. It’s fantastic and one of the best experience’s I made in 27 years of playing video games.

Races
You have 8 different races to choose from. The Hyur, the “classic humans” // Elezen, tall, slender Elves // Lalafels, they are maybe small and are often called potatos, but they can be as fierce as any other race (and incredible adorable) // Miqo’te, the race to choose if you ever wanted to live your cat girl fantasy (like the person writing this review) // Roegadyn, they are big and muscular and probably lift buildings in their free time, just for fun // Au’ra, Dragon like race, with beautiful scales and horns // Viera, tall, good looking and have floofy bunny ears // Hrothgar, a big leonine race. Currently only playable as males.

The World
Eozera (and beyond) has areas for every environment you can possibly think of, and surely some that wouldn’t come to your mind). I promise, you will enjoy and love your time exploring the massive world that lies ahead of you.

The Community
FFXIV has one of the nicest, most friendliest and helpful communities you can find in any game. Being rude is frowned upon and actively discourages by the VAST majority of the player base. If you are new, don’t be scared to ask questions, maybe join the Novice network (a special text chat especially made for long term players to help newer players) or just ask in general/region chat when people are round. The first time in a dungeon and it is out since 7 years? Just let you group know, the chance of them helping you through your first run if there are things to explain is very high.
Tired of adventuring and want some socializing? There are always people around the main teleport point in the capital cities, to hang around with, especially in New Gridania and Limsa Lominsa.
Final Fantasy XIV also has a large roleplaying community, so if that is something you enjoy you will certainly find people for it.
If you are friendly, we are looking forward to welcome you to our world :)
If you want to be toxic, you probably won’t find many friends in Eozera.

New Player Experience
Unsure if the game is worth the subscription fee? FFXIV got you, my friend! One, if not the biggest free trial awaits you. It includes the main game and the first two expansions Heavensward and Stormblood. Even if you just play 1 Job through the free offering, you will easily be kept busy for 200 hours, but likely way longer.

The Endgame
The question is not, what to do but what not to do.
From Dungeons in various difficult modes, to Trials in normal or extreme mode, 8 man raids on normal or Savage mode for the more progressed raiders and people who enjoy hard content. Alliance raids (24 player content), Criterion Dungeons in normal and savage to the Ultimate Raids, some of the hardest raiding content to be found in any MMORPG. Tribes to unlock and farm the classic reputation for, daily dungeons, PvP normal and ranked and so much more.
Housing!
And to not forget one of the major aspects of the Endgame, Glamour, since looking great is the most important thing as we all know. And FFXIV has thousands of items for you to combine and dye to create the ultimate glamour.

Final Thoughts
It's hard to put into words, how much I love this game and what it means to me. So many amazing people I met of which many became close friends. There is just so much to do. And even if you take a break, you aren’t left behind. The game is designed with players wanting to take breaks in mind.
They confirmed support for the next 10 years and I personally can’t see myself leaving Eozera any time soon.
