The ultimate collectathon and cozy game. The story is light-hearted and fun, the characters are as charming as ever, and the graphics are gorgeous and whimsical. This game differs from Animal Crossing in many ways: time-manipulation breaks your save file, befriending all characters is obligatory if one wishes to progress the story, and only certain mascots may come-and-go from the island as they please, just to name a few distinctions. Despite this, I do recommend giving Hello Kitty Island Adventure a try if you enjoyed Animal Crossing, Stardew Valley, or Harvest Moon in any regard.

Unfortunately, the third-person camera cannot be manipulated by the player and thus will shift in response to movement quite suddenly, leaving those who are prone to motion sickness forced to either refund the game entirely or self-medicate their nausea away; I would like to see this issue properly addressed some time in the future!
