I don't get the negative comments. I might agree it may not be quite as good as the 1st one but it is still a lot of fun and I'm really enjoying it! I think the writing is good, again, maybe the story isn't quite as fleshed out as the original, but the game doesn't have to be just as good or better than the original to be a really fun game! Outside of the character drawings (which I'll admit are pretty ugly), the rest of the artwork is really good in my opinion! I loved the first game, I'm loving this one, and I certainly hope there's a 3rd in the future!

I bought this game on sale when it first came out. City Builder? Roguelite? Two genres I usually enjoy and never really thought about ever being combined into a game. I was curious enough to check it out. Wow. I was almost instantly hooked. Not only one of the single best games for either genre I've ever played, but one of the single best games I've ever played period. I'm in my 40s and even the genres I love just seem to be a rehash of something I've played a billion times over. This is a new and fresh experience and I have enjoyed every single minute of my 186 hours of play time and counting.

If you enjoy any of the above genres, or you just want some completely different and new period, pick this gem up! I'd pay full price for this without even thinking about it. The devs have also said they plan to keep adding content and releasing QoL changes in the future and they did the latter not even a month after official release! Nothing is perfect, and if I tried hard enough I could probably find something to nitpick; but I can't think of anything, lol.

BUY THIS GAME ASAP! Whether it is on sale or not! You won't be disappointed. I've already bought another copy for a friend!

Even though I paid full price years ago, I cannot play the very game I purchased due to some idiotic DRM trash. Don't buy this game unless you enjoy being ripped off.

This game is absolute trash. It basicallly boils down to "how fast can I click on circles". It's a true disgrace to gaming.

I don't typically do a lot of reviews, but I had to write about this little gem. It won't blow you out of the water with anything amazingly awesome, it's just a really well made and balanced card game that they can (and do!) throw a lot of twists and kinks in to make it enjoyable for numerous hours. You also get access to more abilities and cards as you progress through the game. I would normally never want to play a card game (especially a card game!) in a single player mode without any multiplayer options, but there's an exception to every "rule". This one is that exception.

I really loved the hell out of this game and after seeing it in my library I had to write a review, re-install, and am now currently very looking forward to playing this game from start to finish a second time! To top it all off, it is on sale quite often, even at 75% off where you can snag this pirate's bounty for a mere $1.74! And hell, it is even worth the original $6.99 price tag. I've paid much more for a pile of garbage more than once (gotta love Steam, lol).

I feel like most the complaints are people who want every single thing paper magic has to offer for a $10 price tag and go all nerd-rage when they realize they are getting a toned down version of the game.

There are some bugs, but they are not that common or game-breaking.

The UI could be a little easier to navigate but again, it is still very functional.

The last patch has dramaticallly improved loading times. I'm thinking people complaining about loading times are mainly people with crap computers.

This is far from "P2W". They have some "premium boosters" that you can pay a total of $30 additional for that add variety, but not much more power. I've logged 200+ hours and played and won a ton of online matches without any premiums. Oh, and they are actually making the premiums free now with the upcoming Nov. 5th expansion.

I actually like the stark contrasts with the visuals in this year's DotP. I've never been blinded by any glaring white screen. Of course I don't sit in the middle of a pitch-black room like some vampire-wannabe either.

The main reason I enjoy this game is because it gives me one of my favorite games (Magic: The Gathering) in a format that puts everyone on the same playing field regardless of how much money I make. I can't go out and buy yet another $100 booster box to overwhelm my less fortunate oppoonent. It is all about skill and deck-building.

I for one am just fine with a "magic-light" for the MUCH lighter price tag. If you enjoy Magic, don't have the time/money to put into the real thing, this is perfect for you. Don't let all the negatives turn you away!

Really fun & addicting game. Would recommend to anyone.
