I took the obligatory hour-and-a-half just creating my character, which was an entirely enjoyable experience in and of itself. After that, I spent easily 60 hours just in Act 1 alone, and enjoyed every minute of it thoroughly.

Act 2 was suitably traumatising, yet still entirely enjoyable. Spent another ridiculous number of hours in that part, was amazing.

I am currently in Act 3 and things are starting to really come together in a beautiful manner. The characters and their stories, not just your companions but the folks you meet along the way, are incredibly involving, endearing and intriguing. It's very clear a ton of thought and love has been poured into this game, and if it doesn't win Game of the Year, there's probably no justice in the universe.

Now this is not a game that absolutely everyone will love. If you don't enjoy turn-based combat, dice-based game mechanics, intricate storylines or RPGs, you might not enjoy this game as much as many do. If you're expecting an action-packed, combat-laced, dungeon-diving lootfest, there's bits of that here but more of it in something like Diablo.

All the above being said, you'd be robbing yourself if you didn't give this game at least a try. It plays like a complete, finished product and they're still adding quality of life improvements as time goes by, for zero additional charges. Larian Studios clearly care about this game, and it shows in spades. The talented folks behind the characters themselves are also incredibly funny and personable people who are constantly staying in touch with the community through various projects.

If other studios are intimidated by the level of quality produced in this game, I say good. I don't expect smaller/indie studios to produce such a product, but the AAA industry has a new bar set for them whether they like it or not. No dumb DRM, no microtransactions, no day-one DLC or pay-to-win mechanics. It's what we, as gamers who have been sold inferior, suffering products in recent years, deserve. I thank Larian Studios for that from the bottom of my heart.

I used this game to gear up to other SoulsBorne games, and have found myself both satisfied by this game, and terrified for what comes next in other games. As far as this one goes, I love it. Very satisfying on victory, and failures are largely your own fault. I can get with that, no matter how pissed of I get at times. Top game.

I work as a Restaurant Manager at a rural village pub, was a Restaurant Trainer for a high volume restaurant chain and have managed for extremely high volume pubs. When a good friend told me about this game, I said "Nah mate, that sounds like going to work twice in a day."

How wrong I was.

I have enjoyed the Hell out of designing my menus, my restaurant, addressing tasks as they come up during shift, serving food on time and accurately after messing it up a good few times to begin with. I found this game fantastically satisfying after getting over the learning curve, and it's only really interfacing that you have to get used to. Some might find time-management games like this more difficult to get into, but if you have an aptitude for the industry, you'd probably enter this game fairly well equipped.

It does need a little bit of polish here and there. Designing restaurants can be quite a clunky task thanks to the interface, and it doesn't really marry up to how the interface works in the rest of the menus (KBM user here). I don't know how or when I'm going to unlock certain recipes, all I know as that they're locked and I can't use them until I eventually can, somehow. Some guidance on that would be grand. I don't fully understand the star/levelling up systems, it just seems to give me random items after I complete a day and accredit the reason I got them was for levelling up, or for serving X amount of Y that day.

All in all, I'm still playing the ever-loving life out of this game every opportunity I get, and the more and more I do, I realise that, perhaps, the reason I enjoy this game is because it provides me the benefit of the satisfaction of my job, without having to deal with the worst aspect of it all. People.

That's my tip in the jar on this game. Would recommend.
