tl;dr: Any MOBA of your choice + Command and Conquer + TF2 = Battle Battalions. And it's GOOD.

I may have played only a little bit of it, and personally I'm not enjoying myself much. The engine seems OK and if you can get used to finnecky controls you could probably learn to play this game with not much trouble. But myself I don't really like it. I fell like it's riddled with too many minor design flaws that, while not breaking the game, really show how unpolished this is. For example, you aim with LMB and fire with spacebar. Well, why not give the players the option to, I dunno, rebind the fire to RMB? Just a suggestion.

But yeah, battles are decently fun once you learn how to do what. The pace is much slower than something like, I dunno, TF2, but rapid enough to feel action packed, especially for a naval simulation game, while at the same time not as slow as I dunno, World of Tanks. Why did I bring it up? Because it seems to follow a similar economy model.

If only he controls were a little more responsive, I'd play this game, but hey it's got potential.

There is no graphical options screen - the game hogs your attention, prevents you from going windowed or changing resolution. Glitchy UI. Lazy achievement naming.

It's basically a Total Annihilation clone with colourful graphics and a vehicular ACU instead of a bipedal robot. It seems more or less solid, if clustered and confusing, for something free and seemingly in development. I'd love to see a campain.

No windowed mode. Instant joykill. Especially hindering when you're a roleplayer and want to be able to alt+tab quickly between your game and your RP, and loading either screen takes half a :health:ing decade.

Wow... This is... Bad. Really bad.
I get it. It's a PC port of a mobile game. No wait. This is a straight *RIP*.
And it SHOULD R.I.Piss. There's no option to turn off the music OR the sound, it's both or nothing, and I always hate that.
battles are hilariously small, short, and senseless. There's very little strategy to it.
The tutourial is built up like taking it slow and saving up money for stronger units is the better strategy, but no. You can just spam the 2 soldiers you get at the start and it'll be just as good, if not better. If anything, it'll be faster.
The screens are hilariously small which makes no sense. The second a unit goes off-screen, it's attacking the enemy base. Where's the tension from not knowing what your soldiers are doing?
Maybe it woulda been OK if your base LOOKED LIKE A BASE AND NOT LIKE A TUBE. And NOT 10 miles away from the EDGE OF THE SCREEN.
and of course, it's a mobile game, so MICROTRANSACTIONS GALORE. Bait everywhere, items you can use to overcome the challenge with your wallet and not your skill!
The units don't even look Metal Slug. When did you last see a banged-up driod with tank treads, clamper hands and tesla eyes... THAT LATER SHOOT LAZORS! Soldiers have grenades but NO GUNS? ARE YOU ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ME? Isn't the whole idea behind MS to GIVE TROOPS GUNS? Send bullets, grenades, explosions, nukes, lazors ALL OVER THE SCREEN?
The combat is unengaging, the little bit of music I heard was obnoxious and just unmatched, the interface is crap... Jesus. This game does NOTHING right.

As with all mobile->PC rips... AVOID LIKE FIRE

Good mechanics, good feel, balanced(ish) gameplay, and doesn't seem to be P2W. I can recommend this game even though personally I didn't enjoy it all that much.

I'm a few hours in, and it seems solid.

Now, I don't know how it holds up with HL2 lore, (I'm not a geek, bite me) but I can definetly say that the engine is stable and functional, which is an accomplishment in its own right. That said it has some minor issues, but given the beta state, they may be overlooked... But may need fixing.

But before we get to that, let me talk about the things I liked. First of all, the engine is still a bit... Gmodish which means stuff's gonna fly all over the place. Building debrees, unit corpses, random junk, all sorts of stuff. Even units - at one point in sp_abandoned a fast zombie lunged at one of my units and went skydiving after it bounced off a pile of garbage. Things like this keep the game _slightly_ unpredictible which makes it a little more fun, as there's a slight chance that 2 setups will have different results. I see it as a merit, even though some may see it as a flaw.
Another thing I like is the fact that in order to do damage, you actually have to hit the enemy units. For example if a Shotgun Rebel will try to turn around and pump a combine full of lead, he may miss. Why? Because he fired before he finished turning around. It may not seem all that afir but honestly, I kinda see where the creators are coming from. This also means that shotguns won't just do fixed damage at a short range, but instead can be used as a strong short distance weapon and a weak mid-range weapon. Kudos.
I also like that you don't have to build your buildings to a grid. Even though I think it should be an option, it'd be best if it was an OPTION. Aka, you can both snap to grid and freeplace them. Rotating buildings would also be a welcome feature, in case I missed it, and it would allow for some creative base construction. At the very least allow the structures to be rotated 90 degrees.
What I don't like is the text-based, minimalistic interface, but again, it's a Beta. Their priority should be making the game functional and balanced before they hone the visuals.
Also while I understand the whole "shortcut corresponds to icon placement" concept, I found it very, very, very, very counter-intuitive, especially after Blizzard's rise to power and their use of contextual naming of the shortcuts - A for Attack, also for Offensive Movement, B for building, S for stopping (oh also, you don't have a "STOP" command. There's only a"HOLD GROUND") I went out of my way to re-bind those just so I can more or less normally play with what I'm used to since childhood. That said, I can see the merits of such control scheme, but it's simply not what I like.
Another gripe I have with this game is a pretty serious issue, especially on maps like sp_abandoned. INTERACTIVE OBJECTS (such as weapon crates, fruit and other) WILL GO INVISIBLE IF THE CAMERA'S FAR OUT ENOUGH. While I admit that it's fair to include this feature, someone should make sure that THE FADING DOESN'T OCCUR WHEN THE CAMERA IS ZOOMED OUT TO THE MAX! Why? Well duh, otherwise how are you gonna see the crates? And in strategy games, the bigger your field of view is, the better. Imagine if you had to play Starcraft or Red Alert using a camera that only allows you to see one tile at a time! Granted, zooming in one step is enough to make the objects visible, but that means you either have to spend the entire game on a reduced screen, or randomly zoom in back and forth like a toddler with a camcorder just to check the objects for being present.
Another thing, again having something to do with sp_abandoned. As you may accidentally find out, the various gas cans and carnisters EXPLODE!!!!!111!!1!!1i1!1oneoneone! That's fine, I'll just order my troops to shoot them so they're not a threa- *soldier wals onto the can, dies* Ooookaaay Maybe I'll blow them up with a grenade. *throws a grenade to get rid of 2 carnisters, aiming somewhere between them* Nothing? Maybe I didn't throw it close enough. *throws another one, aiming bullseye to blow it up, nothing* Well, those grenades are wasted. Greeeeeeeeaaat... I think the devs should make it possible to shoot those damn things, or at least make them grenadable. After all, they cost 10rq, might as well make them worth using, right?

As I said, it's beta and needs polish. I hope that they'll at least include different cursors depending on what you're ordering your units to do. Right-clicking an enemy makes the same animation as telling them to walk on him, and they don't have an alternate response that would vocally differenciate their attacks from their movements.

And I believe they included a custom music option... Which I haven't tried yet, but if it works, SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!

While not the perfect title, it's pretty good. If you can get past the 3 major problems, which are... bearable, you get a neat little mod that, if given some polishing and a campain editor, is probably gonna be a pretty solid title. In fact, I'm looking forward to seeing this come out as a full title. Perhaps the devs could use what they learned to make their own RTS in the future? I'd definetly buy that, if it's at least as solid as Lambda Wars.

This game... Is not even worth launching.

Let me get this straight: this game is not worth launching on PC or laptop. It's designed for a mobile device and it already fails on Steam PC because of that.
Why? Because it literaly has no introduction. That said, it shows you the few basic units and actions you need to start the game, but good lord, I was wiplashed the second it loaded. Another reason I hate it from the step in, it only has fullscreen mode. Yes you can turn it off, but since you can't adjust your resolution or drag-stretch the window, you can literaly do jack to make it any different than fullscreen. Except the annoying border.
Why is this an issue? Well, I have a large screen and I like to have a few thing at once open (for example Skype and Steam chat are both visible AND I can still see my game AND I can return to and from it without having to suffer 60s loading screens that occur when you alt+tab into a fullscreen game) and anyone who does the same thing will most definetly have an issue. Another thing, YOU CANNOT ADJUST VOLIME! Unless your phones have a volume control wheel or you're willing to lower your entire system's volume (again, Skype and Steam suffer from it) or you wanna play with audio mixers, this game is not worth the trouble.
I get it, it's a mobile title moved to PC. It's not even ported, because ports are adapted to the system they're supposed to work on - this is literaly just ripped from a phone and glued to a PC.

tl;dr avoid like fire! Unless you have a mobile. Then it's worth at least looking at,
