A very fun and short game made by creative and aspiring developers! It's fun for what it is and has a very adorable art style! I'm eager to see if there are any further updates in the future!

My only complaints are the lack of enemy variety and that the shotgun could use a little more oomph. Other than that? It's great!

I had to ramp up my mouse sensitivity just for this game.

I now identify as a Toyota AE86.

Yes. Yes. Just all of my yes. I've been following Askiisoft for years and I'm glad they've come up with yet another masterpiece that rivals Tower of Heaven. The neo-noir platforming aesthetic certainly kept me engaged throughout the duration of my playtime! Fantastic, challenging gameplay and an engaging story with unique characters and multiple dialogue choices for endless replayability! With an awesome soundtrack to boot!

This game certainly challenged my sense of perfectionism, because your timing has to be exactly right. You will certainly fail several times over, but victory is just as satisfying when you persevere!

My only gripe about this game is the length. I would go on a tangent about the overall difficulty, but that's only because I brute forced my way through the game without ruminating over my mistakes.

I would definitely recommend this to a friend and anybody looking to kill a day or two!

There's so much to say about this game. So I'll be descriptive and actually post a thoughtful, in-depth review.

Let me start off by saying that Spec Ops: The Line is an absolute gem. I'd like to say that it's probably the pinnacle of modern shooters in the gaming industry today, although, I won't shun out the other decent shooters that came after this one. Spec Ops: The Line is the result of splicing together fluent game design and a riveting narrative, which blends into a well-thought out, intricate piece of priceless art.

To begin, I'll discuss the story, which was deeply influenced by several various novellas, Joseph Conrad's 'Heart of Darkness' being the most prominent source for influence and inspiration. Spec Ops: The Line sets in Dubai, within the UAE. It is described that Dubai has suffered through the largest sand storm in recorded history, nearly submerging all of Dubai into a pile of rubble and sand. The game's main protagonists are three Delta Force operatives sent on a recon mission into Dubai, the player assuming the role as Captain Martin Walker, the squad leader. Under Walker's command is Sgt. Lugo and Lieutenant Adams, who prove to be an effective, tight knit team. The game does an extremely good job presenting each character's personalities and traits during the many hardships that follow. Each character is unique and displays their own opinions and thoughts on the situations that surround them, and it's up to Walker (the player) to act upon these many decisions. Each decision you make has their own consequences and it will impact upon how the squad looks towards Walker, one way or another. I won't ruin the story for any of you, but I will say that this game will truly make you think afterwards. It does a great job of doing that, believe me. Every scene and every conversation holds it's own weight and it never fails to bore the player. You 'can' skip cutscenes, but I recommend that you don't, as you'll miss out on the nice voice acting and acting the game presents.

Gameplay wise, the player won't have a hard time working out the kinks involved with the cover system, as it's surprisingly easy to maneuver. Beyond that, combat is very fluent for a third person shooter, as the ballistics are almost completely spot on, and for the most part, so is the enemy AI. Commanding your squad in-combat may seem a little difficult to work out at first, but it proves to be extremely effective when picking targets. Enemies *will* swarm you during points, so it's important to stick with your team and to pay attention to their observations on the field. Your squad members will call out units that deviate from your average cannon-fodder, such as shotgun units, snipers, knife bearers, and heavy units. Furthermore, Spec Ops: The Line utilizes not only strategic assault tactics, such as sniping or silently taking out sentries to thin out the numbers of a superior force before an assault, but the game also uses it's superior level design for environmental hazards that the player may use as an advantage over their enemies. There are many other utilities such as the sand storms, the squad's degrading appearance as the game progresses, and the many cinematics and points of interest that make this game truly stand out, making the player's experience with the game one to remember.

The soundtrack... Spec Ops: The Line offers a fantastic soundtrack that truly matches and punctuates the mood of the game itself. From Mogwai and Alice in Chains to the game's own masterfully crafted soundtrack, the game's soundtrack itself never fails to impress and aspires to keep the player entertained during their trek across Dubai. In fact, I still find myself listening to the soundtrack on and off both before and after I played the game.

Whatever you may have heard about this game, it's probably true. It's truly an underrated piece of work and deserves way more praise then it has already recieved. There isn't much that I have to complain about with this game, other than the disappointment I had when I finished the game in one sitting, which took about six hours. I wouldn't say the game offers much in terms of replay value for other than the choices and multiple endings the game has. However, I still found myself playing the game again about a day later, and it was still damn fun. As for other features? I know the game has a multiplayer option that I have yet to try out, which I will get to with a friend of mine when we both have the time.

So to conclude on whether or not you should buy this game? Yes. Hell yes. I bought this game while it was on sale for $5. I can honestly say that it was the best $5 investment that I've ever made. Sale or no sale, this game is worth every cent you put into it. Spec Ops: The Line is a fantastic modern shooter that combines expert game design and a fantastic narrative that is truly a unique experience for every player who touches this game.

Words can't do this game justice. So I'll leave you with this: Buy this game if you want a truly rememberable experience that most videogames these days just can't do. Also, Walker is voiced by Nolan North, man. Nolan North. Everyone loves Nolan North. So not only will you be buying a stellar videogame, but you'll also be supporting Nolan North's rise to ultimate power. And being me? I usually don't write reviews for games unless they've deeply inspired me on a deeper level.

Cheers, everyone. Happy gaming. :)

Oh yeah, and this.

I crossed the line, and I still felt like an a****le.

Great mod. No... Great GAME. This is a prime example of a great game that's been in development for several years now. I've had the privilege to see both this game and the creator continue grow and I'm really looking forward to the next installments.
