Wonderful rogue lite adventure with some unique mechanics. As long as you don't adjust the resource requirements / spawn rates and leave them at normal, the game does a good job balancing exploration and management. I went super overboard in the first 1/3 of the game and basically never needed to scavenge again until close to the conclusion.

For those who see the complaints about not saving, I am not sure where this misinformation comes from. The wording is not the best, but your game saves every time you load into a new map. You can quit mid run and return later. But I've seen several people, and a few reviews, say that is not possible. I am not sure why.

If you enjoy inventory management, crafting, and a fun little world to explore this is a great experience.

The base game plays more like a nice tech demo. While it is initially nice to explore an abandoned, yet not post apocalyptic, civilization, the emptiness becomes very boring after a few hours. And then you are only 10-15% through the base game.

Likewise, while it is really cool learning where different enemies are weak and advancing from "run and hide from everything" to "murder everything in sight," most of which is based on learning enemy weaknesses and behaviors as well as how to use the copious amounts of consumables, this still does not change the fact that you learn these techniques well before you are even 30% through the game.

And while the DLC does add some necessary liveliness to the plot, the fact that it is DLC is disappointing. And while the conclusion was released as a free expansion rather than DLC, without knowing the events of the DLC I imagine it would be rather jarring to suddenly have all these people working together who you have not met before.

Game should have been a 5-10 hour, more linear experience without any of the weapon rarity shenanigans. I stuck with it only because it required so little thought it made a good background activity for listening to audiobooks, and a little bit of sunk cost fallacy.

Lots of good ideas. Gameplay is solid, both on foot and on ship. This game is definitely worth getting if it is not too expensive.

The gameplay is not terribly deep, and about twice as long as it should be given basic mechanics do not change much past the second hour. The fact that mods and necklaces are randomized is a bit of poor design as well, as some of the necklaces change the game entirely. And the plot is terribly paced.

But if you enjoy the combat side of ship games moreso than the trading (this game has no trading mechanics), this does it pretty darn well.

Solid gameplay loop, great worldbuilding, and a passionate (and not overly toxic) community make this a really fun game. Plus, the community felled the Sony beast, a world first as far as I am aware of.

This is a fun little RPG / deck building game. The core mechanics are fun and different, and solid enough to justify spending some money on it, IF you do not mind the one minor and one major complaint I had.

My first complaint is relatively minor. I had most of the upgrades unlocked before I hit level 4. I never saw a need to purchase any gear, and I had all the most expensive upgrades. I'm not sure what there is to do in the game with your loads of money after that. I quit shortly after level 4 though, so maybe more upgrades become available through a story event or something.

My big complaint, and the one that ultimately caused me to quit, is that the animations are forced and super slow. Most RPGs these days, especially turn based ones, give you an option to skip animations. I don't care to watch my squad move through every tile in the ship. I don't care to watch my squad and enemies do their attack animations. The fact that there's no "skip animations" option is what killed the game for me. Once you know the mechanics and moves your group has you only spend 15-20% of your time doing anything, the rest is watching animations play out.

But if slow animations does not bother you, this is a pretty good game.

Very good, for an adventure style game. Only needed to reference guides two or three times, the setting was very unique, and I did not feel there was any needless filler.

Fun little horror adventures, kind of like the video game equivalent of a short story anthology. Some appear more refined than others, but all of them that I've played (I have not completed it entirely yet) have been a joy. Even Summer Nights, which initially seemed kinda "meh" grew on me. Definitely worth the asking price if you are a fan of horrors. It's not the Amnesia experience, but it shouldn't be compared to that either, because it's something different, and it does it really well.

An incredible experience, but you cannot go into it expecting a complete experience. The game was abandoned, so to speak, and is not complete. There are hints of an insane world and a story that could have unfolded to provide great entertainment, but the episodic style sucks when developers cut the project mid way. And unlike Telltale, no one is picking this project up to see it to completion.

Take the trigger warnings at the start of the game seriously, this touches on some very dark subjects. The game is great (and I'm not one for visual novels), but the first 60-90 minutes almost killed the game for me. When everything in the game screams "THIS GAME IS A HORROR" (the game literally tells you, that's not a spoiler) and you go somewhere around 90 minutes without anything happening, it makes you start to wonder if it's really worth it. And while I would say you can skip through most of the content at the start, it does set the foundation for the rest of the game.

So yeah, it's free, it's great (even though the beginning pushed me really close to quitting because of how mundane it is), and you should play it.
