It was fun for the first couple of hours, then I had to make myself play it, and then I decided to remove it.
Had I known it, I would rather buy some other game instead but on the other hand there is a few games with humor as this one, so it's probably worth a try.

To be honest, I was disappointed when I first tried it, as the only reason I wanted to play it was to virtually visit an ancient Roman city. I got far more than that.

On my second play I realized how deep this story is and fell in love with it, I didn't get bored anymore to play until the end and see all the endings, which is worth the time. I could leave the game after seeing one ending but alternative scenario developments kept me in just as they kept getting me surprised.

I wish it had been divided into chapters to get back to some of them and that it were optimized as I once got stuck it occasionally got slight lags with my current setup which makes me wonder whether people with the recommended setup have them too or not but it didn't ruin the overall experience.

Thanks, Modern Storyteller!

This is one of a few games that made me follow the story and probably the (only) one that made me even watch all the endings with an interest, it kept holding me and my thoughts, I had a lot of emotions. I read all the dialogues and didn't really want to skip anything and it was due to the combination of the narrative, voices and the music. Then I replayed almost the whole game for collectibles and it still felt like it's bringing something new to the table cause the details are changing things, though I'd prefer to have more checkpoints to load faster and be done with them (it was a disadvantage to me). :)

As one of the devs said, they wanted the game to mark that life isn't black or white, but rather both and maybe even more so during war. I believe they succeeded.

There's a few things that made the game uncomfortable, I'd say that the camera movement wasn't perfect but rather quite limited, and the character often got stuck in quite everywhere, be it a different person or a corner, but the player can always get out though and make his way through.

Overall though, if you're into great stories, you should definitely play it.

I still believe it's a decent game but I didn't enjoy playing it in 2020 with blurry graphics that made my eyes sore and the crazy enough camera which may affect one's gaming experience (it did affect me), I believe I should've played it in a windowed mode at least but I am not very comfortable with that. It says HD in the title but it doesn't support Full HD, keep it in mind.

On the other hand, it does have a nice idea and story to it, the graphics are unique, but I wish there was an actual voice-over. one may get bored while reading the text in the "cut scenes", he or she could press F1 to skip them. I would love to have even a foreign Japanese voice-over at least for human-like characters, cause they aren't really well animated... but it has neither.

P.S. I didn't really play it for almost 6 hours. I was AFK for a half of the mentioned time.

I wanted to like this game cause I heard a lot of good things about it and I kind of did until I got bored of it, I spent some time and passed multiple quests, I liked the music, customizable characters and the pawn system, but if you don't know the right way to move throughout the story, you'll encounter overpowered mobs and it may be okay with pawns (they fight for you) but dealing almost no damage to your enemies and running around to heal the pawns got boring faster than I thought it would.

The menu interface was optimized for consoles and was ported to PC the way it was first made, why wouldn't I mention the poor design considering the actual platform...?

The world is interesting, there are various creatures that live there but running around the map fighting wolves, harpies, goblins, harpies, wolves, goblins, wolves and wolves wasn't entertaining to me (I also encountered several quest bosses, so I wouldn't say that I played too little). Well, even wolves are overpowered. :D Special hits / fight animation may look good but deal almost no damage to most enemies...

I'd describe my overall experience as painful.

It was my second attempt to become the Son of Rome, the first time was when I tried to play it around 5 years ago and I couldn't really play the game cause of my hardware but I got amazed by the details of the storyline, the locations, and the graphics look great even by nowadays standards. The game seemed hard until I got the hang of game mechanics. Well, they appear to be very simple, but I wouldn't recommend it if I didn't understand how they work as it's frustrating to just keep clicking without being able to heal, cause if one doesn't know how to perform executions, there isn't really much one will achieve, so... See a skull above enemy's head? Press E, this should add some spice, which may not be enough to keep you playing, but it still deserves a try.

I don't mind Ryse: Son of Rome being short as it's a repetitive game despite all the nice and atmospheric gameplay features (the only game where I felt as if I'm one of the soldiers in testudo), and even though it's still a pity that the game didn't become as popular as it should've been due to poor release strategy, I would watch it as a movie at least (it's well-directed and the story is quite captivating).

Albeit there was a glitch where I had to replay one of the checkpoints once and the game is repetitive, it was still a highly enjoyable experience for an action game. The bosses are not too complicated but they will make a player look for the right approach to defeating them (combinations like dodge-dodge-deflect-hit).

By the way, several scenes and locations reminded about Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice, so if you want something lighter than HSS in terms of atmosphere and gameplay, get to play Son of Rome already.

Ave, Crytek!

The first time I found out about Wreckfest was when a friend of mine told me that it was the first time that he bought a game for the full price. He didn't regret it. Although I waited for sales and I am no fan of this genre, I was looking for a game like that.

I only played career mode.
I enjoyed it despite that I didn't know what the game used to be according to other reviews.

I believe it is a nice blend of arcade with a more serious simulation approach to it. You choose the way you want it to be, there are parameters to set up (even except the classic manual or automatic transmission, for example, the way a car gets damaged and whether it still drives sometimes before it gets totally wrecked) but even when I set AI difficulty to low, AI behaves the way it should, it fights back by trying to spin me out, it doesn't just drive slowly, rather it makes mistakes, it doesn't have me as its only opponent, the AI controlled cars compete with each other too. I even believe that It'd be almost just as entertaining to watch a NPC racing other NPCs.
I liked the RPG approach. There are levels and there are mechanisms that will open when one has gained enough experience and money.
When it comes to one's own car customization there are 4 parameters that affect the way the car drives and feels: acceleration, top speed, cornering, strength. So he or she should look for the optimal way to balance them which depends on one's goal set by the following challenge. There is also a rich variety of options to make a car look different from others which is important especially if one decides to race online.

Emotions:
It was a great decision to put nicknames over AI controlled cars rather than names cause one knows its a video-game (here goes a special thanks to its game designer(s)), so it made me feel like I played with a real person and it made me feel happy to crash and/or spin them out when their cars were ahead of mine for a long time, Schadenfreude. I even remembered their nicknames. The locations are great, but may also seem slightly repetitive in the middle of the campaign, I like that there is no need to race during the night time. I took Screenshots and one can check the recording of the past race, rotate the camera. It also feels nice to get a position in top 1000 (actual) players in some races, so in a way every player still competes with others and his or her friends on a global level even when the player is in career mode. Not to mention the multi-player and custom maps for fun and experience, where one can put a school bus against sofas (!) or lawn mower(s) in a demolition derby.

YES, there are VARIOUS FUNNY VEHICLES to drive: harvesters, big rigs, limos, etc.
There are various regimes.
I can't say there are too many or few options for everything as it is all about the combinations of settings.

Hint: in some regimes it is good to adjust damage to realistic while normal for others, and in case of realistic it matters where and how players crash them or the vehicles will not be moving.

It's not worth the full price but I bought the game during sales (-80%) for the bow hunting and graphics. I didn't regret it. Here's why:

I didn't find it was as arcadish as some here claimed it to be, at first at least, cause I started playing the Hunting Simulator on a hard level of difficulty until I had to roam a map for almost 2 hours (or at least it felt like I was roaming it for 2 hours) in search of 3 wolves, and I didn't have enough time to claim the third predator, the game was over, then only I decided to see what the game is like on low difficulty.

"Easy" means richer wildlife, and more hints to hunt, the game felt rather dynamic now, so I found it to be even more entertaining, and after all, it still was NOT AN ARCADE, cause I had to follow the tracks in the right direction, crouch to targets in order to keep their attention low, find the right distance, the only time I felt it was an ARCADE was when it came to waterfowl hunting, the birds just keep flying and you have to find the right moment to fire the gun, I would say that it was relaxing, once you understand the way it works.

I could assume that it was poorly named, as it may not be what one may expect from a game that has "Simulator" in its title, but it is still a fine game and the word "simulator" I believe has a broader meaning, aren't most of the games simulators of real life after all? It may seem like the game is an arcade depending on what one is comparing it with, so should we put it as "the hunting simulator for non (pro-)hunters that come from its famous competitors"?

You unlock new items in your inventory as you progress through campaign, to unlock everything you need to pass every mission but I didn't want to go free hunting after 111 missions of the campaign, it was enough for me. The drone was a fun feature, although I didn't much use it, I wish it could recognize the animals and also zoom in and out, yet I wouldn't say it is useless.

I can't really think of its advantages. What I can say is despite that developers don't work on the game anymore, they optimized most (if not all) of the things mentioned in negative reviews:
+ AI works well, hares even run away if they see a predator (which is not the player), each species has its own limits as to how close it will let you come before running away.
+ There are graphics settings and one can optimize these settings for a better gameplay.
+ There is a tutorial (as for the hotkeys not mentioned in there, press Q to switch weapons, hold B to get binocles, press M to open the map)

Cons:
- Dead multiplayer, you CAN play it with your friend(s) though and I believe it would be fun.
- If you buy it for the bow, the game will give it to you when you pass around 75% of the campaign, but you may think it useless after all unless you appreciate the realism and you are willingly playing longer with it.
I wonder if every weapon is available in multiplayer cause I would say that it should be fun to compete with a friend to find out who is a better archer.

A few tips regarding the gameplay.

Graphics (for optimized visibility):
- Lower post processing to the minimum during the night when you don't yet have the night vision goggles.
- Lower foliage to the minimum when you have to hunt for the smaller animals.

Gameplay:
- If you get your shot right, X will appear on the map, leave a mark on the point to find and claim the animal quickly.
- Disable bullet time in case the goal requires claiming several targets. Yes, you may miss an opportunity for a nice screenshot if it's off, but you also may not be able to shoot right away when possible as you will lose the few seconds while watching the bullet.
- Don't forget about the secondary weapon slot, especially during waterfowl hunting, you may need additional ammo.
- In waterfowl hunting switch to the third person view.

It's a crazy game and it's hard to believe there are people who can manage to pass it all in less than 40 minutes but I don't want to spend all the 400+ hours in the game. Perfect difficulty as someone said, some places took one honest hour to complete but that's the fun in it, hate the bosses and that particular place where you have to go up and accelerate through electricity for multiple times (and have to go all the way back down if you still want to get the script and couldn't do it on time) but recommend the game. :D I also love the art style once the character goes out or is inside the palace, very beautiful atmosphere.

I was pleasantly surprised by how entertaining a game can be just with a storyline without any action, while playing it my anarchist friend kept telling me to stop it cause the BIG BROTHER IS NO GOOD, hahaha, although, we can do a part of it in real life already..., the action is in the story though, a few times in the start it got me tired of looking for information but I soon got used to and in a way learnt to search for it and you will too, just try to not overlook all the links, sometimes you don't easily notice them.
I HAD ONE ISSUE in the end, the game just froze after credits (as I recall) and my computer didn't react to anything but I didn't mind that cause it was over already.
