TL;DR: Great story, well optimized, fighting system much improved, wholeheartedly recommend buying.

Just finished my first playthrough, and you can clearly see how successful the first game was by how good and improved the second game is. Huge thanks and congratulations Warhorse Studios.

The first thing I noticed once I started playing, was how good the game ran on my somewhat ageing hardware.
I am using a 2019 Lenovo Y740-17IRHg, with an I7-9750H, 32GB of DDR4 RAM and a MAX-Q RTX 2070 with 8GB of VRAM. In recent years there have been far too many game launches that struggle to run on top-of-the-line hardware.

A well optimized game is a breath of fresh air. Using a mix of medium and high graphics settings and a quality preset on DLSS I am seeing 70 to 90 fps almost everywhere, with one exception, and that exception being of course Kuttenberg.
I experienced constant stuttering every ~5 seconds while in the big city. No matter what settings I used I couldn't get rid of it. I finished the game on patch version 1.1.2, and the upcoming patch 1.2 is supposed to help with performance, especially in Kuttenberg.

And now onto the game itself.

I was wondering how they will continue the story, skill points-and-perks wise, because at the end of the first game my Henry was a murdering machine. The idea of an injury partially decreasing your skills was nice.
There is still some grinding to do and by halfway into the story I had mostly maxed out skills and perks, but it is still better than starting with everything unlocked. I look forward to the new hardcore mode in the upcoming patch.

Speaking of the new patch, I was surprised of missing features such as hardcore mode and a barber. Considering the delayed launch I was expecting more feature than the first game, not less.

Now the game itself. Everything I loved in the first game is still present in KCD2. Both games offer unmatched immersion, and I really like that they kept the first person view.

Just taking a stroll on a chilly morning, just past sunrise and I feel like I'm in 15th century Bohemia. Attention to detail is fantastic. The wind rushing through a nearby forest, the birds chirping away, a scary pack of wolves howling in the distance.
I remember one late evening while sneaking just outside Kuttenberg, I stumbled into a small body of water where a bunch of frogs were singing their hearts out.

During my playtime, it was pretty obvious the game was far more lengthy that the first game. I remember finishing my first playthrough of KCD1 at about 80 hours.
I am currently sitting at 190 hours played in KCD2, and most surprising to me is that I never felt the game was getting boring. With a lot of 100+ hour games, by the end I feel like I am rushing to get to the finish, but I never felt that with KCD2.
I intended to immediately start another playthrough of Evil Henry, but with the recent patch announcement, I delayed that until we get hardcore mode.

Now, the story. I won't get into spoiler territory, but to me it was very very good. So many plot twists that I had no idea what will happen next during the main questline. A great game no matter how legendary its parts are, it's still a disappointment for me if the story is predictable. I may catch some hate for this, but RDR2's story comes to mind.

The cutscenes were again, fantastic. Many congratulations to the voice actors, motion capture actors, animators etc. The amount of emotions these people managed to convey during the cutscenes put some movies to shame.
One negative remark I have, is the mount of repeated voices. Maybe I'm imagining it, but I think a third of the NPCs were voiced by Sir Bernard's actor.

One of my biggest gripes with the first game was the fighting system. Not that it was too hard, but that it was too easy once you learned the Master Strike from Sir Bernard. You just waited for enemy to strike first, pressed Q to master strike and that was it. And God forbid you had the gall of engaging first in a battle, because if the enemy knew how to master strike you would get your behind handed to you.
In KCD 2 we still have the master strike but it's not a one button winning mechanism. You actually have to position your sword on the opposite side of the enemy's weapon. It is not perfect by any means, but it a big improvement over the first iteration.
I will say that I don't like what they did to the other types of weapons. Maces feel useless, the axes are not much better, and since you cannot use master strike with anything but a sword, I really didn't see any point in using them.
Polearm inclusion is nice but they are very weak. The fighting system with a polearm doesn't take into consideration the massive reach this type of weapon has. In the first game I could face anyone in combat without fear, but put me face-to-face with a group of peasants with polearms and I was trembling in my full-plate-armour-boots.

I started writing this review so long ago, that I forgot what else I wanted to remark, but the bottom point is Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 is a great game, easily worthy of being a successor to KCD1.

One other thing I will mention is what a tremendous job Jan Valta did with the soundtrack.

I know it's going to be a really long wait, but I already cannot wait for the next game.

Thank you Warhorse Studios!

I really like it.

Never played any other TXR, but this game gives me old-school vibes, and somehow a feeling of nostalgia.

It is certainly not for everyone, but for people that played games like Juiced or Street Racing Syndicate I think you'll like it.

I am not a fan of zombie games, in fact I hate them. But somehow Days Gone got me hooked for 40+ hours.

The best part for me was the storyline. It was in fact the major reason that made me finish the game.

I liked the big variety of weapons which allows everyone to pick a loadout that suits their style.

I am not a fan of griding content but luckly there are mods for that and much more.

I am writing my opinions just after finishing the game, and while there were some parts that I didn't like about the game none come to mind right now.

But I do remember the best moment. Meeting a horde for the first time. What a rush of adrenaline it was running away, cheeks-clenched, after trying to fight them while seriously undergeared. And how cool I felt when I barely managed to defeat my first horde.

Immersive game with an OK story and a bad loot system.

My Summer Car is the type of game that once you get into it, it's like you've joined a cult.

EDIT: "Perhaps I treated you too harshly"

So I started replaying the game given the 2.0 update and the expansion, and I've got to say, I am quite impressed. The world feels much more lively. I enjoyed the game when it released, but I was disappointed with what could have been if not for the remarkable lauch. There are still some small bugs here and there but nothing major, and so far I'm enjoying my time.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Cyberpunk 2077 is not a bad game, it's a sad game.

The sad part is what could've been if it wasn't rushed to market, and instead would've been released when the devs deemed it to be ready. I see people saying the devs are to blame for the botched release but I think the shareholders are to blame for the rushed mess that we got. It's a shame when suits are dictating the pace of game development and not the people who are passionate about it.

I played the game at launch and while I enjoyed it, I couldn't recommend it to anyone. At full price it is a tough sell for an unfinished, potentially buggy game. If you can get it at a deep discount then yes give it a try.

For every positive aspect there was a downside. The world aesthetic is awesome but it feels empty. Some quests are cool, very cool actually, but a lot of them have meaningless choices and this was a big letdown considering previous CDPR games.

I did like the choice of making the game first person, considering it is manly a shooting game with some melee.
The car handling is bad, not terrible but still not good. I have to switch to a gamepad when I get in any car/bike.

With every patch I am astonished by the amount of bug fixes, but it's just that. An insane amount of bug fixes with no added content. We are currently at patch 1.3 but the game feels the same.

While the damage to the company's reputation is permanent and my future hopes for the game a low, I am wishing for a comeback à la No Man's Sky.
