Mechabellum is an engrossing auto battler. Instead of having to rely on random drops like so many other auto battlers, you choose your composition and the random card and unit drops that are present each round are identical for both players, keeping the random factor low. Also they offer 2 in game tournaments per region per week, a short tournament mid week and a longer format on the weekends. These are incredibly fun, they have groups for all skill levels, so even if you aren't a high MMR go ahead and jump in!

Early Access Review
Unfinished game, development team has been let go. Very unfortunate as ksp 1 was fantastic.

Helldivers 2 captures that fun and frantic co-op experience perfectly, the variety of weapons and strategems, loadouts in general means each player can find their playstyle, the over the top in game wild lines are fantastic, the game just looks and feels great 10/10. Now I would like to leave a bit here about what will keep this game going, and hope other developers read it because Helldivers is so refreshing.

Helldivers 2 is a masterclass in how to run a live service game. The developers engage the community and respond to how we the community play the game. There is no excessive grind, like many live service games. Yes there is plenty of content to unlock, and it certainly does take time to unlock all of it. But the way you can pick and choose in what order to unlock many things is great, skipping over some things you don't want instead of forcing you into a very linear unlock progression. There isn't FOMO, and even what at one point I had unlocked everything, I still wanted to play for the fun of it, which is not something I can say for similar titles, who lock things you want behind excessive grinds to the point where you feel like you are playing just for the next unlock, which to be clear is a BAD way to keep players engaged. Helldivers 2 respects your time and prioritized having fun over giving you FOMO to play.

There are micro-transactions, but they really are micro, $10 gets you access to on average 3 primary weapons, a sidearm, 3 armor sets, and some additional cosmetics. On top of that it is easy to earn the premium currency in game just playing normally, and there is 1/3 of the cost of the pack or "Warbond" included in it. Again, the developers are respecting the players time. As a middle age person with a job and kids this is extremely refreshing and welcome.

The Emergent story telling is perfect, with new types of enemies and missions appearing out of nowhere surprising the community, everything being handled in fiction instead of in previews and patch notes. It feels SO much better to be on a map and suddenly a new type of enemy you've never seen before appears. How we as Helldivers impact the story by completing of failing major orders, it just feels more alive than any other live service game, and the pace Arrowhead is releasing content feels good. Not huge patches with a ton of new things every quarter or 2, but instead less content all at once, and instead a constant drip of new things.

Anybody who enjoys co-op games needs to give this a go, it's an outstanding game, seemingly from a developer who hasn't forgotten that games are meant to engage the player through fun instead of a grind.
