This game is incredibly well made. The art style is unique and very well done, and the cut scenes are impressive. The soundtrack is equally as good, and could stand alone without needing the game for context.

The ye olden English writing style can be hard to decipher at times, but I never found myself being left clueless. At absolute worst, some dialogue needs an additional few seconds to process. The humor of the game stands out as well, making me laugh multiple times without ever taking me out of the experience.

I'm extremely impressed with this game, especially for a first release from what I can tell from some basic searching. I think this game will be mentioned in every "best RPG Maker games" discussion from now on, and I am really excited for any future projects these devs make.

I played the demo for 9.5 hours on top of the time listed here. This game is one of a kind, incredibly fun, and addicting.

If you're reading this you're probably already familiar with MDickie games. There's a certain kind of soul behind his games that is unique but familiar, and you can tell he put a lot of care into this one. The original Hard Time was a fun sandbox (that you can still get for free on his site), and this game elevates what made the original so fun. Not to mention the new mod support, which already has some great community made content even in the infancy of it's addition.

The absurd moments that happen can make this the funniest game you've ever played, and the fact that it's purely random makes it hit even harder. The best way I can describe it is carefully crafted and perfectly polished jank. This game isn't buggy or broken, it just throws everything into a pot and lets you see what happens.

The most recent update added the old two floor prison cells, which is great to have back. I saw people mentioning missing the old layout in reviews, and it seems like MDickie actually read them and listened - and recreated them surprisingly fast. Hard Time has always felt like it lived in the shadow of his Wrestling games, but this time it feels like it's finally being treated as an equal, and it's great to see and even better to play.

If you like story driven games, this isn't for you. But if you like games that give you everything you need to make your own story, then buy this immediately. You'll inevitably end up feuding with a five foot tall bald 18 year old, having a psychotic breakdown and starting a prison riot because an inmate teased you for drinking milk, or accidentally giving the death sentence to a random civilian with no arms and only one leg who rolled into you with a wheelchair.

I wish that the character editor and officer/civilian roles were available from the start so everyone could experience these new options, but in the grand scheme of everything this game has to offer that is an extremely minor complaint. I cannot recommend this game enough. I hope we see MDickie continue to add more to this game and keep making more 3D titles down the line.

Horribly optimized, old, and ugly.

The perfect trifecta.

Fun mechanics with an overly feel-good and cheesy story. This game is unique in terms of mechanics, but boring in terms of story. I still recommend it, but with the caveat of "skip the dialogue as much as possible".

Seemingly inspired by Hotline Miami, with a soundtrack that is on the opposite end of the spectrum but just as good. I enjoyed my time despite frustrating deaths and short runtime, but don't see myself playing it again.

Ape Out has unique and fun mechanics that shine in comparison to similar games - like taking hostages that act differently depending on type - but it doesn't feel refined. I'm positive that people who dedicate the time can master this game can manipulate features like this into beautiful runs, but I don't imagine many will attempt to.

The album styled level select feels like such a no-brainier, but is unique to this game as far as I have seen. I recommend this game as a one-off experience, but don't expect a genre defining title.

Short game with a cool story that I haven't seen anywhere else. The demo represents the full game well, and shows you around 1/3 of the game if you're interested in what it has to offer. Each full length play-through is about 40 minutes.

If you like short horror games that can be completed in one sitting like I do, this one is worth a try in my opinion - especially when streaming it with friends. The price is a little high for the length and Unity Asset Store models, but I enjoyed my time with it and don't mind paying an indie developer for their work.

I hope to see more horror games from this developer in the future. This appears to be their first attempt with these kinds of games and I'm impressed with their first try.
