After a few updates it's now much more polished game. Definitely worth playing.
Characters are memorable, most of quests engaging: some side ones even more than the main, though they do sometimes feel a bit on the shorter side.
Game never crashed for me, encountered only a handful of bugs (pretty much just some npcs glitching during free roam).
Granted, the game itself is nothing revolutionary, still pretty far from promised, but as someone who didn't really follow it until release, it didn't disappoint me.

All in all, 7.5/10 experience

GRAPHICS:
Payday 2's graphics are quite a step up from the first Payday game. Even tho the game was released in 2013, they still hold up nicely. The game is well optimized and runs smoothly even on low end PCs.

GAMEPLAY:
The point of game is simple. Create your build, go to game and do the objectives to get that sweet payday cash. But the massive number of heists, with new ones releasing regularly, there is really plenty of varied gameplay styles. You have your classic robbery jobs, but also some more sophisticated ones, which are almost a story by itself. Some heists even have the option of doing it in stealth, awarding more money and xp if you pull it up. After finishing a job, you get cash and xp, up to lvl 100. After reaching that you can decide to level up your infamy level, which was recently updated (maximum infamy level is 100). As you can imagine, reaching that max level might take a fair amount of grinding, but if you don’t care about it and you only want to play the game for fun, you can easily do so.
Also gunplay – it’s one of the best out of most games out in the market.

STORY AND CHARACTERS:
The characters in the game (heisters and the contractors) are interesting and unique. There are even some guest appearances (like John Wick). There is a lore behind each one of them and there is also an interconnected story between heists, which you can explore for hours.

DIFFICULTY:
Each heist comes in 7 different difficulty levels. Enemies become tougher and deal more damage. Higher difficulties also introduce specialised units, each with its own gimmick. Cloakers that knock you down, teasers, that stun you, tanky buldozers… There is also stealth, that makes some levels easier and others harder.

AUDIO:
The audio in this game is really good. Gunshots are clear and crispy. And there is the music. It is energetic, fast and it sure pumps you up when you are in the middle of a mini warzone. You can select which songs you want in the game, even whole playlist

tl;dr
The game is really fun and it offers hundreds of hours of engaging gameplay. The graphics are clean and well optimised. The gunplay is really good and it makes the massive library of heists even more fun. There is a bit of grinding if you want the late game upgrades, but the game can be easily enjoyed without doing it. And all of that is accompanied with crispy audio and energetic music.

8/10 for me

GRAPHICS:
I got the game after playing (and loving) the first two in the series. I never saw any videos or trailers of it so I had no idea what to expect. I was completely blown away. The graphics in this game are stunning. Thus also requiring quite a machine to run it. I have the RTX 2060 super so i had no problem running it but my friend tried it with GTX 760 and had 30 fps on average on low settings.

STORY AND CHARACTERS:
Another strong point of the game is story. It is a character driven story and the game does a lot to make us connected to our companions. Between the missions I just stopped and listened to their conversations and banters and i just couldn't go on until they stopped. Each character has an interesting and distinct background and character, that surprisingly isn't bland and doesn't end up being a caricature. Relationships between the characters are amazing, and at certain moments one could get a teary eye.
In some places the plot falls a bit thin but then the characters relationships save them.

DIFFICULTY:
The game offers several difficulties to play with, which dictate the amount of ammo found in the world, how much damage you can take, how much health do enemies have... I played it on the normal difficulty and although it wasn't really hard, there were a few moments where i felt really vulnerable. But the real challenge comes with the Hardcore ranger, with it's rare ammunition, HUD turned off and constant sense of danger.

GAMEPLAY:
The gameplay style is largely dictated by the difficulty and area. It goes from straight up shooter to almost horror stealth style. The gunplay is smooth, although i liked it a bit more in previous games of the series. The iconic weapon upgrades make a return, but i miss the unique currency in the shape of Military grade ammo. Stealth is really polished, but at some moments enemies randomly see you through a wall (happened to me only once or twice). I didn't really like the crafting but I guess it fits the open world style of those sandbox areas. At the end of the day it's still the original, slightly clunky Metro gameplay.

AUDIO:
Lastly I want to talk about the sound design. The soundtrack is phenomenal. It sets the mood for the game so nicely. It pumps intensity in certain moments and dread and sadness at others. It's one of the best soundtracks i heard in recent years. And the audio in general is really polished and high quality. Really a pleasure to ears.

tl;dr
I really enjoyed the game. The gameplay is enjoyable, be it shooting or stealth. The audio and graphics are phenomenal, but it needs a newer pc to fully enjoy the latter (although even on low and medium the game still looks amazing). The main game is about 25-30 hours long if you do some exploration, 15 more with dlcs. I think the game is well worth the price, but if you can get it on sale (i bought the gold edition for 25€) then it's a must buy.

Cool design and concept. It's really fun, especially with friends. The main problem is the lack of playerbase (when you are in a public lobby basically everyone knows each other). There are around 3 - 4 games (12 -16 players each) at the same time and that's it. But most of the players are veterans and they helped me a lot when i started.

So it's a cool game to play with friends, but expect to wait more than you play (although chatting with players in the lobby is nice).
