I haven't enjoyed a 4x game this much since Civ5. Most of the reviews will emphasize the crossover between Crusader Kings and Civilization, but that misses the point. The best part about Old World is the modern design sensibility applied to the resource and system design. By far, my favorite feature of the game are the Orders, forcing you to look at each turn individually and think about your overarching goals 5-10 years out, rather than the immediate need to move a worker onto a tile to just build farms. Game + all DLC is worth every penny, and I bet Civilization 7 will release with polarizing reviews from the community, so when you inevitability read this after being disappointed by Firaxis, give Mohawk Games a chance to see what a modern 4x should be.
