It was a pretty fun puzzle game but as other reviews have stated definitely wait for it to be on sale as 30$ for a game this short is a bit of a hard sell at least for me.

I did like that there's options for standing or sitting depending on your preference and the only real complaint I had is that snap-turning and teleport are on the sticks so it felt really easy to try to teleport somewhere and accidentally turn if you even dared nudge the stick a little left or right.

All-right, since Starbound finally got out of Early Access I feel like I should make a more updated review.

TL:DR?- 6/10. Decent plot, minorly similar to Terraria in terms of looks and feel. Has some flaws though.

Pros:
-Many races to choose from, that base on what your equipment can look like and how your ship looks like.
-Highly moddable, I'm delving into modding (not making mods just using) as of making this review so this might change based on my experience.
-Has some interesting cutscenes that flow with the plot.
-If it hasn't changed from way back when, you can share exact co-ordinates with other players if you found something interesting, like say you found a blueprint in a chest if any other player goes to that same chest it should contain the same blueprint.

Mehs:
-Monsters are rather basic, most only have contact-damage attacks and you learn which ones will have projectiles real fast.
-Each boss feels somewhat unique but as soon as you learn the pattern it gets somewhat boring, only really good for a first encounter.
-Has a lot of new small-quest systems that you can find within colonies, sadly they're basically RPG quests. (Fetch this for me, kill this guy etc.)
-Only three types of weapons in the game, that being; Melee, Ranged and Tech (*cough* Magic *cough*).
-Most recipes can be seen as soon as making a station, while this is a good thing some recipes won't show until you pick up a certain item and to this day I have found some materials and I have no idea what they're used in.
-Some descriptions are VERY vague, the worst one being "Right-click to apply to your EPP." Except right clicking doesn't exactly do that, rather you have to right click on your EPP when you have the Augment picked up.

Cons:
-Not that greatly optimized when a lot of particles are present, causing some bad framerate drops.
-Despite the new plot that gives the game a new feeling I still couldn't shake the thought of it just being; Go explore this new planet, kill the boss after upgrading gear, repeat.
-Has a couple of small bugs but thankfully they weren't game-breaking/ruining.
-The main hub is shared within your profiles "Universe" so if you wanted to do a fresh-start character you'd have to go and manually delete the file within Starbound.
-Movement is really floaty, this alone wouldn't be an issue if it couldn't cause death so easily.
-The difficulties the game offers have no inbetween, simply going from Casual "No Death Penalty and no Hunger" to -> Survival "Lose most items upon death, manage Hunger" to -> Hardcore "Permadeath, manage Hunger".

Edit: Added a couple of notes that I failed to mention.

TL:DR? 7/10. It's a pretty neat game that might get you addicted to it. Though lack of unique enemies, content and grinding might bore you.

Pros:
- A lot of the items from the store can be bought using the games free currency. (Cubits)
- Even though the game is based around cubes it has very interesting designs for enemies/dungeons.
- It's free currency is easy to come by, as you can obtain 500 to 1000 a day.

Pros/Cons: (Things I like and dislike at the same time)
- Unique classes that have a limited amount of abilities.
- A lot of items to customize your character's looks, I'd say roughly 1k at least.
- Game doesn't feel P2W but most store items DO increase your Mastery Level. (Real-life Currency only items)
- Has a level system similar to Destiny, EXP Level is maxed at 20 and then you have your Gear Level.
- Thanks to the Dragon Caches the game's economy is highly inflated. But apparently a flux sink is coming in the future.

Cons:
- Game has horrendous ping (you're lucky if your ping is ever below 100) and still has a lot of bugs.
- Repetitive enemies, dungeons bosses are usually just larger and stronger versions of a basic enemy.
- Game can be VERY grindy at times. Most items needed to craft something require it in the hundreds. And you only get one per harvest of said item usually.
- Somewhat tempered community, looking at the discussion board will show what I mean.
- Despite it being MMO-based game, it can feel VERY singleplayer-ish if you are not hanging around with others.

7/10 would be an 8/10 if it wasn't for the Lag. If wanting to buy this game I will recommend waiting until Rebirth comes out (November 4th).

This game would be a bit more fun if it wasn't luck based. Any build is capable of winning but getting VERY certain items will make the game a cake-walk.

Harshest part of the game would have to be the actual DLC (Wrath of the Lamb), which fills it's goal of making the game harder, I'd recommend not getting it unless you're familiar with the game.

Otherwise the game is fun but challenging, I would recommend it.

Warning: This game is rather hard... until you learn some tricks :D

Like most games that attempt to be difficult there's the; Difficult but fun, then there's the "so difficult this game is not fun at all >:c".

At first it will be the latter, as the learning curve is minorly hard and there is no crafting guide in-game (though there are plenty of guides through Steam). But once you get used to it the game is rather easy.

What I recommend doing is learning most of the crafting recipes and reading some guides based on your favorite play-style.
