Excellent writing, characters and (what little there is) plot,
packaged in a horrible nightmare of grindy, RNG and luck-based combat, that does not respect the player nor their time, and awful gacha mechanics.

Unity is sh*tting itself.
Unreal is sh*tting itself.

Time to switch to the real Engine of the future.

You know what to do.

Multiplayer game based on DC's Batman and taking place in Gotham City in which two gangs, The Bats and The Jokerz, duke it out to see who controls the city. It brings along a wide variety of standard and not-so-standard FPS weapons and unique gadgets, all with different effects. Additionally there's also the ability to customize the player model with different costumes, loadouts and even body types, which affects the speed and durability a.o. of the player.
The variety of maps is somewhat lacking though.

Unfortunately, it is VERY HARD to find matches nowadays or even enough players to start one.
This is also contributed by the fact that game is no longer available to download on Steam which makes it virtually impossible to play for anyone who didn't already have it in their library.

A ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ shame really. It was a fun game when it was alive.

I have no idea if this is a genuine work with a message or just one giant s h i t post but, I'm amazed how consistend it tries to be both.

There's a plot that involves heavy subject matters such as suicide and school violence and then it has characters randomly T-posing and exploding.

There's voice acting that sounds like it was recorded with utmost honest intention but every character sounds like they're in their late 20s, even the school kids.

There's a girl that acts all shy and apparently harbors romantic feelings for the player character and then she turns into a giant wolf, picks him up and flies with him through the night sky while lo-fi music plays.

I have no idea how to feel about any of this but, I applaud the developer. It takes guts to release something like this. Whatever they wanted to achieve, they did it.

I've been a fighting game enthusiast for years and even though I will probably never what anyone can consider "good" at this kind of games, I still love play them and improve if I find something that I like.

And "Schwarzerblitz" (german for "Black Lightning") almost immediately catched my eye.

I mean, a game that is a homage to old 3D fighting games? What is there not to love?
At first I was admittingly somewhat put off by the graphics. I've never been a fan of the PSX Retraux graphics style,
so I can't say much about them other than they work. While the graphics are simplistic, they serve their purpose to emulate the old console style rather well and I have never noticed any visual glitches. Although it is somewhat jarring in certain Arenas, where you look at a city scape that is basically flat-painted onto the background.

Schwarzerblitz's strong points definitely lie in the Mechanics and Gameplay.
Aside from the typical "Punch, Kick, Guard, Throw" commands the game has a special mechanic called Trigger.
Every character has 6 bullets at the start of a match and depending on how one uses them, "pulling the trigger" can either lead to ridiculous long combo chains that can easily lead to ones victory or break the opponents attacks and trow them off.

Trigger can be used anytime but once a player runs out of bullets it becomes unusable till the next round and the winner usually earns less bullets back than the loser to balance the odds.

Another thing the game does well are the characters. There is a wide variety of 24 characters (8 initial, 16 to unlock) who all have their own playstyle like Mystery Johnson, professional Michael Jackson impersonator and basically the title character, whos main style is to keep zoning the opponents out with kicks, or Tiger Sambiong the anthropomorphic...tiger who's a rushdown character with constant focus to apply pressure on his opponents.
Every character is unique on its own and there's even some that can shoot projectiles and basically break the game.

Audio and sound are good aswell. All the sound effects for punching, kicking, blocking, gunshots that serve as queue for the Trigger etc. are solid and on point. The game also has its very own selection of music. Every stage has its own theme and some of them are "real bangers" as the kids say.

The only negative is that there's no online multiplayer. The only option for playing online are either Parsec or Steam Remote Play.

Overall, I can only recommend "Schwarzerblitz". If you are looking for a solid 3D fighting game which had a lot of love for the genre put into it and are fine with having no online multiplayer by default than this game is priority to play.

I don't know what to write here, so I just say it's good.
Also got it for free.
So nice developers too.

Played this for one hour and absolutely hated it. There's no balance at all. Scavengers are incredibly Overpowered with shields, holograms and dodge rolls. They move so fast playing as hunter you lose sight of them immidiately. Hunter Weapons do ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ damage and there are health crates for the scavenger scattered everywhere, so it doesn't even matter if I hurt them or not. If I manage to down a scavenger who isn't nearby me, there's no indicator of WHERE s/he was downed. So executing them before they are revived is pretty much impossible. And besides all of this, the game tends to have lag spikes so extreme it reaches the point of being unplayable. The loading times are also pretty atrocious.

I expect from a asymmetric game that theres some kind of balance involved but play as a hunter and you get screwed over EVERY SINGLE TIME. There's absolutely no fun to find here. Rarely have I played a game that made me spew bile at it almost immidiately. In it's current state I cannot recommend this game at all.

P.S. I have a lot more to complain but I feel that has to be enough for the time.

Frustrating, irritating and not fun.

Badly balanced (smaller enemies do the same damage as bigger enemies), the areas are tightly cramped with hardly any room to dodge attacks and I can't think of anything more "fun" than getting hit and killed by a stray projectile while trying to perform a "Brutal Kill". There's nothing rewarding about finishing a dungeon except for the same old weapon upgrades you'll pick up regardless and I just feel like I'm not making any kind of progress. It is also already impossible to reach the top spots on the Leaderboard, so any motivation to get a High Score is lost for me.

It has good music though.

The game might be getting improved in the future and If so I willingly alter my review, but until then there's no way I can recommend this.

Not even the low discout price of 5 bucks I bought this for, justifies all the things that are wrong with this piece of ♥♥♥♥.
