If you played games like runescape, darkfall, albion online, or ultima online then this is a game you do not want to miss.

This is a full sandbox open world mmorpg, with full loot drop on death. Unlike themepark MMOs, gear is not rare to obtain in this game and like other sandbox mmos it makes for good player economy where people craft, sell, and buy items they need or kill for it :)

There is no class in this game, you are what you specialise in action and crafting skills, and you can always change these skills as you play the game and see your preferred playstyle.

But wait, even if you are a themepark MMO player, give this game a try. There are no quests or missions to guide you through the game, you do whatever you feel like doing. You want to work on your sword skills? go train at a dummy and practice with a sword or kill pigs or something. Want to craft some weapons or armor? go gather the material to then refine and build what you need.

I personally love this game because I don't feel like I am playing a second job at home. I can jump into the game, do whatever the ♥♥♥♥ I feel like doing then logout without having to worry about "catching up" to anybody because whatever happens in this game will most likely come down to your own abilities rather than the gear or skills you have.

Get in game and be what you wanna be, welcome to Mortal Online :)

This is why context matters. If you like me were excited for ATLAS because of its annoucement duing the game awards then I must ask you to stay the hell away from this.

What they sold you on the announcement:

MMORPG
40000 players one server

What we got:

Survival Game
Up to 150 players per "grid" in a map "server" with child servers on each grid seperated by not so seamless transition between them.

Is this a Massively Multiplayer Online Role Player Game? Absolutely not. This is at most a Somewhat Massively Survival *Role Player Game*.

Is this game using the most revolutionary tech to hold 40000 players in one server? absolutely not. The only game that has achieved such feats and comes to mind is EVE Online.

So, after you get past all the lies and ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ you get to try and play the game. You select your "server", then you select your "starting area" which caps at 150 players. Imagine only having 14 starting areas in a game labeled as "MMORPG".

Hilarious right? After they realized this was a stupid game design flaw they updated the game to allow players to spawn on the "lawless" zones surrounding each starting zone, not that it helps anything since the game only begins once you suffer through hours of material grinding to make a raft and RUN FOR YOUR LIFE. You literally are playing to escape the starting zones filled with players lagging the zone making everything rubberband and unplayable.

After you spend your time suffering and manage to get into a zone without any players THEN you may begin to enjoy the game without lag or latency issues.

So, unless you are okay with suffering through hours of lag, latency, rubberbanding issues just to play escape from the island do not bother with this game unless they provide better servers after this review.

Good luck to you

Great Game, not a salty ♥♥♥♥ making a review just because I am upset about a rough headstart.

Have been playing the game since alpha and still loving it!

I am currenly a level 55 player in the Ollo Server. Unlike most of the ♥♥♥♥♥ that make reviews on this page who haven't touched the game in months and have absolutely no idea on where the community is headed I am here to tell you why you should give this game a try.

CHANGES!

Trion is FINALLY listening to the playerbase and making the required changes that we as NA audience need, some of these changes are:

Labor Regen: In the near future patrons (the subs of the game which can be obtain through ingame or real life money) will receive same amount of OFFLINE labor regen as if they were ONLINE, so you will be able to shut your PC off at night :)

Archeum Droprates: Archeum is a very important crafting material used for all crafting in the game such as Armor, Accessories, Weapons, etc... Trion is finally making the chances to archeum is once again obtainable through farming means the same way it was pre 1.2 during alpha. This means more crafting more items for everyone at cheaper prices.

Arenas: Trion and XLGames have acknowledged that the current arena systems are not working as intended and will be reworked in the future. Things like premade 5v5s, no more 1v1 afking and more.

1.7 Part A: Boats customization which will further increase the flexibilities for our ingame boats. You will be able to refit your ship as you see fit and more.

1.7 Part B: Second Generation obsidian weapons with the introduction of obsidian armor as well as all the 1.7 class balances they had done in KR.

Trion is finally listening to it's community and talking to xlgames getting to implement the ideas we have for the game.

Lastly I would like to say to all those that are afraid of the P2W faction, NA and KR are two completely different versions of the game. Costumes in NA give no stats and there is nothing you can buy from the cash shop in NA which will turn you into an unkillable PVP machine. There are no weapons or armor or anything of the such in the marketplace giving players any advantage over other players.
