I had expected certain aspects of this game prior to playing it, knowing it was a perception based puzzle game. That much had been spoiled to me. Upon beginning to play, the design and mechanics reminded me a lot of games like Portal and The Stanley Parable. None of the level designs are so difficult that you can't figure it out, but they can get quite challenging. Lots of trial and error, trying to size something just right or figuring out how to enlarge an object while standing on it. Like many others have noted, this game pushes you to think outside of the box. Sometimes quite literally.
There are notes of humor speckled through the game, such as some of the messages the radios play, signs on the walls, stuff on bulletin boards, achievements involved with pulling a bunch of fire alarms, and so many more. This also reminded me a lot of the aforementioned games. I really enjoyed this aspect.
Now, what I was not expecting was the deep, emotional bow that tied the game up into a pretty package. The sequence at the tail end of the game was something so thought-provoking and inspirational. It made me feel something. It was such a beautifully positive message that I feel everyone should play through this game to hear it.
All in all a fun, inspiring puzzle game you should play.

I cried. I cried a lot. Then I cried some more.
To The Moon has such a way of getting you attached to the characters and their stories. This was an emotional roller coaster of a game. Serious tones are often broken up at just the right time, with the comedic relief that is Dr. Watts and Dr. Rosalene's characters when they banter with one another.
Most of the game is essentially point and click, having to walk through each stage of the client, Johnny's, memories clicking on different triggering memorabilia. These lead up to a puzzle you must solve to progress. Game mechanics are simple, and rightfully so, personally I felt like that allowed for more focusing on the story-telling.
A beautiful story. Definitely worth a play through.

Don't listen to any of the other reviews. This is an undercover operation hosted by the jelly bean company Jelly Belly to sort out the "unwanted" jelly beans before packaging. Hundreds upon thousands of jelly beans are being mass murdered so that only the "desirable" jelly beans are chosen to be consumed by the fleshy overlords.
This is not a VERY fun, EXTREMELY entertaining competitive game involving multiple maps, emoting happily at people as they get flung into pink goo, hugging the nearest jelly bean as you fall to your death off of a seesaw, getting hit by big balls, pushing balls into a hole, "soccer", aggressively hoarding eggs and defending them with your life, giving out cooties, dressing up as a pigeon/dinosaur/soda can/whatever the heck you want, and a cooperative, fair team play, multiplayer survival of the fittest(or luckiest) that is all around enjoyable and doesn't make you want to scream at everything around you or blame your team mates for your failure(nor get blamed, for that matter).
This is genocide disguised as a highly successful game you shouldn't TOTALLY BUY AND PLAY FOR YOURSELF.

So I am by no means a review writer. I'm awful at comparing things and when I'm playing a game I'm not really focusing on why a game is good or bad.

I received this game through a Humble Bundle, among many other miscellaneous titles. 2064: ROM sat in my library for quite some time before I even checked out what it was. But one faithful day, I was looking for a new game to play that didn't have a crazy amount of achievements to conquer, and lo and behold, ROM was there. When I first booted it up I immediately really started getting into the opening music. It sounded really nice, and that kinda goes in line with the rest of the soundtrack to this game. Its great background music but has enough of an element to be its own stand alone thing. Let it be known, I'm the kinda person who will play a game just because it is rumored to have an amazing soundtrack.
As said, I didn't know anything about this game before booting it up, so I was very pleasantly surprised by the "retro bit" graphics. Another thing that just happens to be something I love. This game is very vibrant and beautiful if you're into the 8bit style.
So my thoughts are starting to get jumbled about how I wanted to write this review so I'm just gonna get to the biggest point I wanted to make - this game is super intricate and fun/funny. From being able to interact with a bunch of things, including being able to "pep" talk plants, get unBEARable pun lines from a marble statue, help a guy finish bars in his rap song, shoot an evil android, play arcade games, go to a club and get drunk(they even tell you what is in every drink and how its mixed, seriously), use pick up lines on hybrid humans, solve puzzles that range in difficulty from "are you kidding me?' to "brb i have to google how to do this," I really could go on about this. And with all of the above, none of it takes away from the actual storyline of the game, it only just makes it more fun. Choices matter, characters have believable personalities, responses you THINK are good actually could damper your outcomes, and always, always be nice to your little blue robot friend.

Lastly, I want to make note that this game is VERY progressive when it comes to some things we as humans face in our lives here in 2017, such as gender roles/pronouns, race, etc. I myself am a fairly liberal person so this didn't bother me at all and it made a lot of sense that in the year 2064, humans would have gotten over silly things such as worrying about/judging people for their gender, sexual orientation, skin color, what have you. (Instead people are fighting about whether or not its right to genetically alter your DNA.)

So all in all, great game, play it.
