i can't recommend this game enough/ i honestly think it surpasses its peers (in undertale / yume nikki / earthbound / mother) and really creates its own genre of psychological horror accompanied by a banging soundtrack, charming characters, hand-drawn assets, and a compelling plot. the price tag may seem steep for an RPGMaker game, but i promise you that the hours you get in this game can't be replaced by anything else.

Spiritfarer teaches you how to care about others and strips the fear away from death, transforming it into something beautiful. Since I began playing, it's easy to see the labors of love stitched across each and every portion of the fabric behind this game. The animation, soundtrack, worldbuilding, platforming, and characterization are all of phenomenal quality. Spiritfarer tugs at your heartstrings without it feeling cheap or unearned: there's something quietly intricate behind each line of dialogue. They build up until you feel genuinely emotional about having to figure out how to say your goodbyes to your passengers when the time comes. It's cathartic, tearjerking, and joyful all at once, and I can't recommend it enough.
